Ockniel Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 well yeah, this isn't mapping, but I've had this problems with textures before Im pretty sure, so anyways, I made this image, and I want to see it in game, but I get this when I start up: recursive error after: LoadTGA: colourmaps not supported whats the deal? how do I fix it? thanks ~Ockniel
Mercenary Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 What image program are you using and what are the save options you're selecting?
Ockniel Posted July 14, 2004 Author Posted July 14, 2004 psp8 .TGA 16bit compressed anyone know what the probelm is?
Mercenary Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 Well have you tried saving using other options? I tried to load a 16bit tga in Radiant and it said only 32 or 24 bit supported.
Ockniel Posted July 14, 2004 Author Posted July 14, 2004 well, yeah, I think that I tried 24bit, but I'll try again
Ockniel Posted July 14, 2004 Author Posted July 14, 2004 okay, didnt work, what do I do? ps: I can only savve it in 8bit 16bit and 24bit (I tried all of them, compressed and uncompressed)
EvilJedi Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I have a similar problem. I use Adobe Photoshop for all my pictures, save them under 256x256, and most come out as "Shader not found"s... Whether I got them from google or not. Most 512x512 images do work, but i dont like 512 because they come out backwards if I fit them onto a brush. (which is a real bitch)
lassev Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 24 bit uncompressed works all right for me when saved in PSP. 32 bit uncompressed is the 24 bit plus an alpha channel, so if you have an alpha channel in PSP and save 24 bit, you will actually save 32 bit. EvilJedi, have you tried to fit them on the opposite side of the brush The one you told must be the worst reason I have ever heard for not to use 512x512 textures... Use the surface inspector to reverse them, if they are "backwards". Of course they are not really backwards, since it's 3D environment.
Ockniel Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 nope, didn't work. sigh... anything else I can try? or would someone like to do it for me?
WadeV1589 Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 wade[at]stargatemods.com If you send me your attempt at the tga within the next few hours I'll test it and find out what's wrong then post a reply.
Ockniel Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 thanks man I hope you can get it to work *crosses all fingers... and toes to be safe*
WadeV1589 Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I just went into PSP, changed it to uncompressed, re-saved and it worked, I then saved it as compressed and it failed with that error.
Ockniel Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 wow, thank you so much, I'll go do it right now! *its like a little boy opening a christmas present!*
Ockniel Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 it was already uncompressed when I sent it to you, so I just tried it as it, nothing. so I changed it to compressed, and now I got a different error: recursive error after: LoadTGA: RLE-RGB Images (type 10) must be in bottom-to-top format ( File: "gfx/menus/menu_side_text.tga" )
Ockniel Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 guys I still need help with this... wade do you still have the one that worked? maybe you could email it to me or something, in the meantime, can anyone help?
Jedi_Vogel Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 have you tried compressing it, re-trying, uncompressing and retrying yourself? What's your graphics proggie? [edit] never mind you're using PSP8 want me to have a go?
Ockniel Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 ummm? I...dont...know.... anyways sure whats your email?
Jedi_Vogel Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 m.oxby[at]resource-centre.net and give your e-mail a meaningful subject, else I might unknowingly blacklist you lol. And just reiterate what you need doing in your mail too, because I'll be offline when I do
Jedi_Vogel Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 hey, just to let you know I've received your e-mail and SHOULD get some time tomorrow to look at this for you (it's nearly midnight my end and I need sleep).
