PanzerTekk Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Okay..a few people said it looks overpowered... take a close look at the upper left corner. Bleu bar Thats its weapons charge....watch that thing go down So fast when it fires. Its a tank. yes It has shields. yes BUT.its vulnerable when it rolls...and it cant hold up in a sustained fight. You'll just have to tag those things with a few people or a few lucky grenades.
Elite Jedi Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Hmm. I wonder if you can 'roll enimies' over, and can you kill your friends? In u42004 you cant.
PanzerTekk Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 hell..why bother shooting your guns when u can squish people....at the speed that thing goes...it would be killer heh
Triforcer Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 "You'll just have to tag these things with a few people or a few grenades?" I'm sorry, but when someone says that, YOU KNOW the class is insanely overpowered. People in the BF:V forums that defended the original M60 said you should just use "teamwork" to bring them down. If there is any class where it takes more than one person to take that class down on a consistent basis, 90% of the team will be that class. How can you use "teamwork" to take down a droideka if you face 16 of them? You don't get 32 or 40 players to do it, you get 16 too.
Master William Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Droideka is a different class and is not overpowered, all you need is to fire a rocket or throw a thermal detonator, I'm sure. I mean, this is why we have different classes. You can't believe that you can own every class with your Soldier or Sniper, classes are made for a reason, one counters the other, it's like Rock-Paper-Scissor. Besides, I'm sure any vehicle can just blast away the Droieka, it seems that thing is made to kill infantry.

Sorry, but you are misunderstanding the issue. I agree with the rock paper scissor thing. But that only makes sense and is balanced if there is another class where ONE member of that class can consistently take down the droideka. If any one droideka requires MORE than one opposing team members to take down (ie, 1 on 1 the droideka always wins) than the system is fundamentally broken and we go back to my problem of the 16 droidekas. If you want me to use "teamwork" to take one down, what happens when all 16 are droidekas? This scenario happened in BF:V. The droidekas cannot be balanced so that only vehicles or only multiple numbers of enemy soldiers can defeat them, or EVERYONE on the droid team will always be them.
Master William Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 If there's a bunch of Droidekas around, you are playing with fools. Let me tell you why. 1. They have no whatsoever effect on vehicles, so just enter a vehicle and own the Droidekas (as could be seen in the latest trailer, the Droidekas had no effect on that four-legged vehicle from Episode 2/3). 2. You can always blast them away with a Missile Launcher and throw lots of Thermal Detonators. I didn't say anything about teamwork, I'm sure one player alone could take out 16 Droidekas just by entering a ship or a vehicle. And remember, Droidekas cannot enter vehicles, they're just Droidekas all the time.
TK-8252 Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 You can see in the new IGN video that the Droidekas won't be losing their shields when walking. You can clearly see in TPM that Droidekas are supposed to lose their shields when walking...

vulcan_sniper Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 nice! Whats with the beginningpost and the power meeter?
THE BADGER: Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Well..... Back on topic! Well you can see in the new IGN video that the shield is not impervious. You can watch the meter at the front and see that when it gets hit it goes down a bit.
vulcan_sniper Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 *sigh* . Oh well. I knew it was to good to be true. But at least you dont have a meter for the lasers.
THE BADGER: Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Yes there is a meter for lasers. You can't just lay down on the trigger. It can only shoot for so long.

THE BADGER: Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Someone ban this moron, anyway.... I just saw a short movie from gamespot and the 'deka had his shield up and it was slowly diminishing as he got shot. After a couple more seconds he was destroyed. So it is balanced.
BurnsU Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Same as me,cept im in 9th. And that is considered spam.
