VanLingo Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I've noticed a disconcerting silence concerning these online multiplayer issues. Originally, they were mentioned in various previews. -- Split-screen online -- Allows two players to play online from one PlayStation or X-Box. -- Cross-platform online -- Allows PC gamers to play on the same servers with PS2 gamers (sorry, no X-Box support on this feature). -- Bots online -- It has been noted that bots play until gamers jump into their spot. However, there is no official word whether or not more bots will be available. -- Galactic Conquest online -- I'm not sure if it has been confirmed that this mode will be available online. So far, they've thrown out Bothan spies, Imp officers, pilot auto-ejecting, and voice mods. What about the rest of these? If anyone can dig up some current info regarding these issues, please feel free to correct me.
Tyler_Durden Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Yo, the only way i'll play with PS2 players is if the server allows a lot of bots, cause 16 players total is just not enough.
joesdomain Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I really don't care about online multiplayer. I am buying the game for all the single player modes.
Tyler_Durden Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Yeah i hope that the single player aspect has some good AI as the bots in the battlefield games are dumb as hell.
jdtech Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Mmm, I'll agree with you there. The official website say they are working very hard to get the AI good. Lets just hope they are good, I'll be playing SP a fair bit too, as well as MP, of course. John
NBAD Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I migth not not get XBL untill next year or so, so I will be a great online Newbie.

joesdomain Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I wonder does anyone know how many AI we get during the game? Is it a specific number? I think it would be best to have unlimited AI in the game.
PanzerTekk Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 u mean like the # of troops that can spawn before it runs out.?
joesdomain Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Yeah the number of troops we get. By the way you say it, it sounds like we get only a certain number and that is it.
PanzerTekk Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I dont know how the ticket thing works, but its explained in the preview video thingy. Tickets are essentially lives for the team I believe and there is a way to get them and also lose them. (they said that if the empire loses the shield bunker they will lose many tickets)

(they said that if the empire loses the shield bunker they will lose many tickets) They are like if you lose a unit you say for example lose one ticket. Then when the lost unit respawns another ticket is lost. As for bases if the shield generator is lost you lose lets say 100 tickets. To gain them you have to tke an enemy base. (Well thats how I think it works) Quote Originally posted by joesdomain Is the split screen offline for 2 players? Yes it is.
VanLingo Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 The original preview in Game Informer said that split-screen would be available online as well, like in Tribes:Aerial Assault.
joesdomain Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 That is what I thought! Didn't make sense to have a spilt screen if you are just playing single player mode against the computer.

(Well thats how I think it works) your right except for one thing, you can't "gain" tickets by taking an enemy base. If there were 5 capture points each would have a value attached for ticket loss, much like the video said if you lose the shield generator you lose 100 tickets. By having in your teams control 3 of the possible 5 capture points you can slow and even possibly stop the ticket loss your team would be suffering. Though for every death there is a ticket loss, I do wonder though how many tickets each team will start with cause usually on BF:1942 or BF:V the ticket count is around 200. To lose 100 tickets would be a devistating blow to an enemy team and then you have to wonder this....If the loss of the shield generator incures a 100ticket decrease for the other team does that mean its a capture point? Or is it simply a location on the map that would function as a secondary objective to help winning the map faster. If its a capture point then people probably will just be trying go for the generator if the imperials lost it twice that'd be the end of them. I'd like to know if this is the case. Are there going to be locations where buildings or various other objects must be blown up? Stuff like bridges and other things that could slow an enemies progress when moving over the map. I'd love to see an AT-ST walking over a bridge only to have the bridge blown right out from below him...though this would mean that the rebels couldnt use the bridge as well but it would allow for some interesting game play. A little clarity on this wouldn't be a bad thing
