I played Battlefront at San Diego Comicon

Hey Fellas,

Not sure if any of you are attending the Comic con or if you are in the San Diego area, but I've played Battlefront two days in a row there. They are having 3v3 tournaments and the winners get battlefront t-shirts.

Unfortunately, I am an xbox gamer and they only had the PS-2 version, so the controls were a bit foreign to me. However, the game moved well and it didn't seem like any of the units were too imbalanced. The regular soldiers did very well and were actually my units of chioce. I only got to play as the rebels and the droids so far. I didn't get to get in a vehicle, cuz I couldn't find any, everyone took off in em. The game looked good, hopefully better on the xbox and a larger screen. (The flat panel sharps they had were pretty tiny) But it was nice to be able to play a game I've been anticipating for so long...

Well, I didn't get any European Release dates because, well, I live here. Sorry. As far as PC specs, I didn't ask that, I was too busy blasting.

Played on Kamino, that looked nice, especially when you go indoors, everything has that white glowy look.

Played on Endor, and the forest looks pretty real. Although I'd like to see it on the xbox and with a larger screen, not much contrast on the ones they had there, made the map a bit dark.

I never made it to the bunker on Endor to blow it up so Im not sure how that works, I was trying to take a couple command points by myself. I did get to see the Ewok log trap take out an AT-ST, and that was cool. The speeders look cool too. The sound sucked on the systems they had there, plus it was noisy, but I got the feeling from what I could hear that they got a lot of good sound stage stuff and good sfx as well. (Can hear the Ewoks running around yub yubing)

I also played on another map but I don't remember which one, it was like a temple ruins with bases on either side and a whole bunch of ruined buildings on the ground level in the middle. I didn't get much time to figure out that map.

I did try sniping, and wasn't very good at it with the PS2 controllers. Damage seemed to be what I'd expect, head shots were death, anything else took more than one shot. I doubt they'll be the difference in battles.

I played the Droideka and found them to be a bit clumsy. I got blown up pretty quick cuz it took me a while to figure out how to turn on my force field. The blasters on the Droideka drain VERY quickly, makes you vulnerable if you aren't careful.

That's all I can think of now...

Sounds great, thx for the info. I hope they were using some mediocre (sp?) equipment they just threw together. From your description it seems the graphics and sound systems could have used some improvements. I can't wait to see what it will look like on a PC with a geForce FX 6800. The sound system on a 5.1 surround sound should be pretty awesome too.

Thanks once again for the info...but something you said bothers me a little. You said you never got into a vehicle because they were always taken. If this is the case....it may be reason enough for TK to start thier fun just so they can get in one.

gosh I hate team killers...

They need to make some kind of limit on peoples vehicle use. Like you are not able to enter a vehicle if you ahve used it 5 times already (dont know what a reasonable time is because i havent played yet)

In BF1942 SP, you can 'force' the AI players out of the vehicles to some extent. Not in multiplayer though, this is probably because the AI has been programmed to let the human have priority in access to vehicles over them. It's odd in some ways, this AI guy was trying to take off and just before he left the ground I ran over and pressed Enter. He jumped out, and let me pilot the plane. :)

I dont thnk it will be that big of a problem. There are two AT-ATs but the thing is they cant win the game so the people that want to help win the game will just go and capture spawn points. I was able to get in speederbikes, AT-STs, snowspeeders without a problem so i htink maybe the AT-ATs will be a little popular on line but if you want to get good kills you will want to go on foot or via another vehicle. Also most the vehicles spawn at the farthest back point so if you want a vehicle you will have to spawn there otherwise if you jsut wanna fight you will spawn at the closer spawn points that are near the fighting.

yes, but I am talking about like 5 players all waiting for the next At - At to show up and so they all start killing each other just so they can get in one

Well if I'm not mistaken the AT-AT will allow up 5 people in at the same time if I read that article correctly.
