chinitahunter
I've looked at the 'Want to mod KotOR?' thread, but haven't actually found anything I could use. I use the Aayla Secura skins mod available at pcgamemods so I could play with a Twi'lek character, when I noticed that when I equip a mask, it doesn't show up in my character. Anyway, I guess the question is just which [2da?]files would I have to edit to get masks and other headgear to appear on my PCs head? Anyway, thanks in advance for all those who may have the answer at hand.
Amezaroth
Actually the fact that the masks wont show up on twileks (or trask for that matter) is because their heads don't have the mask hooks on them. The mask hook is a node that the mask attaches itself onto and you can't add them to any heads yet because we can't edit heads yet, atleast not so that they wouldn't loose all of their animations... Hope I could help
chinitahunter
Thanks for the reply! I thought that at first, too; but masks appear on Mission's head, and she's certainly a Twi'lek. Add to that the fact that the said mod allows players to use a female Twi'lek as a PC... Well, there should be at least something there to work with, right? I would understand the problem for male Twi'leks, but it should [at least theoretically] be possible for female Twi'leks to wear masks. Any ideas on where I should start looking? Darth333
Unfortunately, this is impossible for now. Mission has her own model. If you want a custom twilek npc to be able to wear masks , then you will have to do a reskin of Mission.
chinitahunter
*insert soul-piercing scream here* Ick. Oh well; I figured it was worth asking anyway. Edit: Hrm. I'll just extract Mission's Head's model, and find some reskins of Mission instead. > Anyone know where I can find green, red and purple reskins of mission? MTV2
prtylizardjedi has a good retexture tutorial( i think its him ) and I use that for my textures

Click the bottom link in my signature, it will redirect you to Seprithro's modding website, he has a green Mission reskin there. As for red and purple, I haven't seen any. BTW Redhawke has also reskinned Mission, to a human skin tone. You didn't request one in this tone, but I thought I would tell you anyway.

I have a yellow one up at pcgamemods, and I currently working on making a multi pack with different colors. Maybe from tonight or a few days till I can get them done and up, but I'll let everyone know when they're done.
chinitahunter
Thanks everyone! MTV2: I just may look at that; I'm no good as a skinner [i'm a codemonkey, myself], but who knows, right? Mono_Giganto: Thanks for the leads; I could definitely use the green, and even if I'm not a fan of Caucasian twi'leks, I'm turning those skins into PCs probably, so yeah, more options. Nodakrattler: Definitely sounds cool. Ermm... Do you think you could make a red and a purple one, and maybe change the patterns of the leather straps on Mission's head? lol o_O

As for the straps I really tried doing that, but since you asked I'll give it a go.
chinitahunter
Wow, awesome! Gah. I seriously wish I had some talent in the photoshop department; I have all these ideas buzzing around in my head, and being a comp. sci. major [specialization in software technology] and all, I figure I could handle the scripting... But I'm really no good with modeling and skinning. o_O I really should try to get my multimedia arts majors friends to start working for me [no pay, of course - seeing as how I have no money >:}] Or I could look at that tutorial MTV2 mentioned; which I think I'll do. Thanks again, Nodakrattler! You've made my day [i'm in +8 GMT, lol]. Oh, by the way, I apologize in advance for my English; it's definitely not my mother tongue. chinitahunter
Definitely... The many nights spent with nothing but pizza, coffee and the occasional poptart as nutrition, knowing that you have been coding for 16 hours straight and will go for another 16 because the deadline's way too close give us codemonkeys that certain something alright [Neurosis? lol]. Nodakrattler
Whoa that sounds like a whole lot of , but it's all good
chinitahunter
Sure was. o_O But the cool thing about coding is that timewarps are associated with it; you *know* you've been coding for an obscenely long amount of time, but just how long is very vague - coding for 32 hours feels more like 15. Anyway, back to the topic; I've gotten the author's permission to use [or at least base from] his Aayla Secura skins. Apparently, it's basically a free license as long as he is mentioned in the readme. You may want to take a look at the skins he made; they're really good, I think; especially the diamond pattern on the back of the headtails, and the positioning of the leather straps[i'm not a skinner though, so I don't know if looking at another person's work is exactly helpful]... Oh, and I find it funny that Mission's headtails are part of her body's model, while a normal female twi'leks headtails are part of her head's model. What went on Bioware's heads on that one? Inconsistency isn't exactly a great thing when it comes to coding [although Mission is just one case, so it's not really a hassle]...
Amezaroth
I don't think the Ayla Secura skins would work because if I'm not mistaken they are just reskins of the normal female twi'lek heads and thus they don't have the required maskhooks in them... I could be wrong though, but I don't think so.
chinitahunter
I know; it's just that I think they're a great reference for skins - the skin tones used, and stuff. Purely for the aesthetic value, I mean.
Nodakrattler
Actually the only thing that I would be worried about is if the creater of that mod claimed the I stole his/her textures. So I will look at doing something like that, but I want to come up with my own pattern, and hopefully ya'll will like it and enjoy for the months to come before Sith lords. I just had an idea, well svosh did it first with Bastilla, but that don't mean I can't do it for Mission. Time to PM T7 and RedHawk.
