[RNGD]Tyrant
My clan is big into SWG and BF42 & BFV. We host a number of BF servers and might host SWBF when it is realesed does anyone know if there will be: - dedicated windows server? - dedicated linux server? - Server manager tool? - remote server manager tool? regarding managing servers does anyone know what kind of options the server admin will have, for example: - game balance? - punkbuster? - Friednly Fire? - Round length in time or tickets? - etc I really hope there is a dedicated server and there are good admin tools, otherwise I am not sure we will host this game (and I am sure many other server admins wont either)
ZinC°hda
Yeh theres gonna be a server manager program stand alone. As for whether its Windows + Linux you'll have to wait like the rest of us as Lucas have released diddly squit about how it will all work/run. Which is a shame really considering the hype which surrounds the game.
Kramerika
All of the above would be well and good, but what I'd really like to know first is if there is going to be a stand-alone server install for Windows? Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy did not have stand-alone dedicated server files, so I'm a bit worried. You have to install the client game from the CD's then patch it with the dedicated server files. That's not a great system for those of us who have colocated server machines miles and miles away that we manage remotely without direct access to the CD drive. Companies like EA (with BF1942 and BFV) and Valve (with Half-life) have it right by providing stand-alone server files to install without any CD's necessary. Tyler_Durden
i believe it has been confirmed that the game will have punkbuster support as well as friendly fire. As for round length, i think you can have it in either a time limit or tickets, i don't know for sure, though. Balancing teams out would be a good idea as well but the thing i hated more than anything in bf vietnam was being forced to play for the vietcong as opposed to america. As with this game, if i'm forced to play as an imp, that's just more tickets being taken away until i can be a rebel.

Nothing can be found on punkbuster.com
Tyler_Durden
a developer interview confirmed that punkbuster is indeed gonna be supported with this game. Can't remember where i saw it, though but it's gonna be in there.

headofdog
There has also been mention of running a dedicated PS2 server on your PC. Any more details?
