the official saber styles

okay, heres the plan:

i'm gonna make a lightsaber pack based on the seven lightsaber styles. obviously, i won't be able to entirely duplicate the saber styles in the expanded universe, but i'll do what i can to make lots of sabers that will benefit most peoples' preferred saber style.

just a note: there will not be any overpowered or insta-kill lightsabers in the pack.

for those that have never heard of the seven lightsaber styles, here they are:

I-very basic style: basically an import of sword-fighting techniques with lightsabers. ie, the jedi students in aotc

II-lightsaber mastery:uses much more advanced tactics that take full advantage of the lightsaber's abilities. ie, count dooku

III-defensive: mostly developed to deflect blaster bolts, this technique makes a jedi virtually invincible. ie, obi-wan.

IV-acrobatic: uses the full 3-d space for attack and defense; uses a lot of acrobatics to disorient the opponant. ie, yoda.

V-attack: combines power with focus on attacking an opponant; deflects blaster bolts directly back at the shooter. ie, vader.

VI-blend: combines techniques I, II, IV, & V. standard form of combat for jedi. also known as the "diplomat's style"

VII-precision: uses the full capabilities of the jedi; difficult to master, because it relies on emotions and the inner workings of the jedi to achieve a quick resolution. ie, darth maul & mace windu

well, gotta get to work, c-ya.

alright, more info, well, details anyway.

first of all, i will be creating several distinct lightsabers for each style. several will have ls and ds distinctions.

also, i have done some more research, and i have found that certain styles allow for different types of saber types. ie, VII allows for duel blades, single blade, and staff blade varients, while III is traditionally a single blade only. were talking about at least 14 sabers, and probably more.

i'm also coming up with ideas to differentiate the sabers of one style from the other via their skins, as well as new lines in the baseitems.2da.

as for making them upgradeable, i'm thinking that only a few will be upgradeable, the rest will be 'as is'.

anyway, thanx for the feedback. i'll go ahead and get started. btw, if any of you are interested in helping with the reskins, pm me and i'll get back to you. :D :D

edit:

Hey stinger I could try to help you with skinning the sabers in the future, I have some time on my hands now as I've postponed the Skywalker clothing mod since it's too much work for some one with as little skill as I have at reskinning. But I think I can do weapon skin since they have so little to reskin...:D

You know how to contact me, and the the Canderous reskin is coming along nicely...

okay people, i've decided to give you guys a quick sample of some of the stats, so here ya go:

base type I: (basic)

weapon wield: battleaxe

melee weapon proficiency required

Damage 2d9 Energy

On hit, Stun DC12, 3 sec

Critical Threat 20-20,x2

These sabers are very crude in construction and do little to improve upon standard swords, thus, anyone could use them.

base type II: (lightsaber mastery)

weapon wield: battleaxe

lightsaber proficiency required

short saber model

Damage 5d15 Energy

+3 Attack vs DS

+3 Attack vs LS

Dueling Feat (1-3)

Lightsaber Focus

Edit: Lightsaber Specialization

Force Speed

Blaster Deflection -2

Critical Range 19-20,x2

These sabers take full advantage of the weapon's abilities vs other lightsabers. However, its abilities are severely weakened whenever faced with a blaster-wielding enemy.

base type III: (defensive)

weapon wield: battleaxe

lightsaber proficiency required

Damage 8d20 Energy

+5 Defense

+3 Blaster Deflection

-2 Attack

+2 Dexterity

Dueling Feat (1 only)

Jedi Defense (1-3)

Critical Range 19-20,x2

Users of these sabers are usually next to impossible to hit, but at a cost of attacking the opponant.

base type IV: (acrobatic)

lightsaber proficiency required

normal weapon wield

short saber for off-hand

staff saber

standard saber for main hand

Short Damage 5d15 Energy

Staff Damage 7d22 Energy

Standard Damage 8d20 Energy

+2 Attack

+2 Defense

Force Jump (1-3)

Flurry (1-3)

Two-Weapon (1-3)

Lightsaber Focus

Jedi Defense (1-2)

Critical Range 18-20,x2

Users that prefer to mix martial arts with a lightsaber use these weapons.

base type V: (power)

lightsaber profieciency required

standard saber (main hand)

short saber (off hand)

Standard Damage 10d27 Energy

Short Damage 8d20 Energy

+5 Attack

+2 Defense

+5 Blaster Deflection

Two-Weapon (1-2)

Dueling (1-2)

Critical Strike (1-3)

Power Attack (1-3)

Lightsaber Focus

Critical Range 17-20,x2,2d6

Sometimes, the best defense is a good offense, and these weapons put that saying to good use.

base type VI: (diplomat's style)

lightsaber proficiency required

standard, short, and staff sabers

these will be the in-game sabers, but with these additions:

+2 Attack

+2 Defense

+1 Blaster Deflection

Critical Strike (1-2)

Power Attack (1-2)

Flurry (1-2)

Dueling Feat (1-2)

Two-Weapon (1)

Lightsaber Focus

base type VII: (precision)

lightsaber proficiency required

lightsaber focus required

Edit: Force Sensitive required

standard saber (with battleaxe wield)

staff saber

Standard Damage 14d32 Energy

Staff Damage 13d34 Energy

+5 Attack

+5 Defense

+5 Blaster Deflection

Critical Strike (1-3)

Power Attack (1-3)

Flurry (1-3)

Force Jump (1-3)

Dueling Feat (1-3)

Two-Weapon (1-3)

Jedi Defense (1-3)

Lightsaber Specialization

Critical Threat 17-20, x3, 2d6

Users of these weapons are either part of the darkside or the lightside due to their ability to involve the jedi's emotions and innerworkings in a battle. These are the ultimate sabers, and the most difficult to master.

whew, that took just a bit of typing. if you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask (there is a purpose to me posting these stats, if you don't know ;P). later folks. :D

sorry, but nobody knows how to do that just yet because we haven't unlocked animations. so you know, the animation is the blade being activated/deactivated. if i could make new hilts, i would, but for now, we'll just have to live with reskins.

just so you guys get the scope of this project, i just got done adding 9 lines to my baseitems.2da. on top of that, if you didn't get it in my last post, the in-game sabers will be granting a lot of stuff (read the base style VI section in my post). in other words, those weapons are being completely reworked (minus the skins, unless i have a volunteer ).

just a warning, this could end up being a sizeable file due to the sheer number of sabers this will include, not to mention a massive baseitems.2da and a upcrystals.2da (not very many in that one, though).

anyway, i am happy to report that the style I sabers are complete (again, minus the reskins). much more work to be done. stay tuned...

Edit: almost forgot to post a time frame. umm, i'm thinking a couple weeks due to the reskins. the weapons are actually quite easy to make (courtesy of fred tetra's kotor tools :D ), and to be honest, i'm surprised somebody didn't think of this sooner.

ok, current progress: styles I-V are complete. style VI will take some time, but not much. umm, i will be doing style VII before i work on style VI so that i can get that out of the way.

as far as reskins, i'm still looking for volunteers, so don't hesitate to do so. thanx folks!! i'll be back later...

i just had an idea. i'm gonna make it so that after you complete the training and become a padawan, you will get the option to choose a new saber style ranging from 2-5.

just a note: the first saber you get will be a style six saber, as will all of the current in-game sabers.

another note: you will be able to get style I sabers on taris in order to make things a bit more interesting. of course, you'll get the rest of the sabers as you go. :D

anyway, i gots more work to do, so i'm headin out...for the time being anyway. :D

okay, final update before the release: the sabers are done. finished. good to go. etc. etc. etc. all i need to do is finish the skins. i'll post them on pcgamemods.com within a couple of days. to all those that volunteered to help (amezaroth), thanx. btw, this will include one of achillies skins (the obi-wan kenobi saber skin) for one of the sabers. just so credit goes where credit is due. well, later folks...

they're upgraded to the point that they fit the description of a type VI saber. btw, try starting a game w/o the sabers first so that it won't be too easy. just a suggestion.
