OldIronsides
Hi all! I was playing the missile launcher kit on rebels just now on Hoth..trying to figure out that guys kit. The missile launcher has a couple of modes it seems. The missile needs certain things to "lock" onto a target. Distance seems to be factor, but it hardly seemed uniform. You seem to get two indicators of something "good" happening to your missile launcher.... 1. The red reticle angular pieces suddenly has a soft red circle glow in the center..a donut hole shape. What does that extra red glow mean? 2. I think when I was "locked onto" a target, the bar right next to the icon top left of the missile launcher would go to the right with a green bar. Once it got all the way to the right and be full green bar I hear a bluuuooppp sound. It seems this building green bar thing only does it when I'm targeting a valid target. Is this green bar when full indicate that I have locked onto the target? The green bar seems to lose some of it's full status if you move or the target moves..so it seems to be a timing thing to shoot the missile as SOON as the green bars go full and you hear the bluuuopp sound. Now maybe I'm just crazy, and the green bar is just a cook off timer to tell you when you can fire again, like most of those bars are for..but I"m pretty darned sure it was related to target lock. If that is the case, then what's with the red donut hazy circle in the reticle. I have no idea what exactly makes that red donut part of the reticle appear? HELP! LOL OIS
grep
Check your manual, it gives a complete description of what your targeting reticles and its colors are.
OldIronsides
LoL...the manual...if you want to call it that. I wish it was in the manaul. I'd be perfectly happy with an online manual. Man, the have entire pages in that POS "manual" with just graphics. The last 9 PAGES are FINE print nonsense! LOL Well, I guess I'll just have to figure the reticle thing out myself through trial and error :-(
Jan Gaarni
Here's how I've see it: It is exactly like you said. It works only against vehicles and ships though. When in range, you will here a sound, and the bar increases with a red color. Once you are locked on it turns green and a higher pitched sound informes you when you can fire. I'm unsure wether you need to stay still for this, but moving vehicles have no impact on the locking of the target.
Marduke|Myth
Nice topic OldIronsides. I haven't played much of that unit. I might try it out now. Thanks for the assurance Jan Gaarni.
Mountainforest
Yeah, manuals aren't really manuals these days. Compare those things we get today with the one you were able to find in age of empires or something, and you know what I mean.
DNACowboy
your entire reticule will turn red when you are over an Enemy Player.. this doesn't seem to be distance based (and is a general feature of all weapon reticles).. Green is for friendlies.. it appears the lock on distance is dependent on the vehicle.. for instance.. a lock for a vehicle an At-St is much shorter then a lockon for the At-At (or it would seem).. when you are getting lock on you should have 2 tones.. when it changes tones you have locked.. but i've found that it doesn't always tone... to get a better idea of lockon when you target a vehicle you should see 2 slant red lines that get closer anc closer together.. when they don't move anymore you now have lockon also. these also indicate where on the vehicle you are targetting.. after you fire your rocket you will get the "donut" circle like you described, this is the hit indicator similar to BF42's. The hit indicator is a general function of the reticle.. if you get a blue donut that indicates you hit a friendly..
BigWyrm
FYI, the rocket launcher can be used to lock onto and take down flying vehicles as well. I have shot down Snowspeeders on several occasions . In addition, the secondary weapons of the rocket class are grenades and MINES. The mines are great for taking down walking vehicles such as the AT-AT and AT-ST. They are very powerful against them. Be careful when setting them as they can also be triggered by infantry, and they are active the moment you lay them down. I try to back up when laying mines.
