Iceman_IX Posted September 26, 2004 Share Posted September 26, 2004 Anyone think the reticle for the zoomed-in sniper rifle is too large? It's bloody huge for shooting at range. I notice this largely on the Kashyyk levels (Docks, Islands) because there's a valley and two ridges that people basically snipe/peck from. It just doesn't make any sense to have a relatively large circle as my reticle. The reticle is just too large for the accuracy at that range. It should create a pin-point on the screen, not a large circle. Half a torso can fit in that thing at range. I don't exactly want 4 cardinal lines but that'd be better than a huge circle. A circle means there's a chance it could hit in any of those directions. If I'm prone/crouched and zoomed in fully there should be a spec I can hit. Not a shotgun blast radius. The reticle should stay there when not zoomed. For one, the gun would be useless in medium to short range without it and two the other guns are basically the same and have reticles. The aiming was on in Battlefield because you had to cock it again if you missed. If you had a small recticle on Battlefront, people would shoot two quick ones to the head and you would die. Snipers should not be able to get into close combat fights and be able to easily place aimed shots that take out half their opponents health without getting really lucky, being really skilled, or marking a dot on their monitor. But the gun ISN'T useless. This isn't the Army Rangers where you have to have a .332 caliber sniper rifle or an antitank gun that''s huge. It's a lazer. One is as accurate as another, for all intents and purposes. So it's just an extended blaster with a scope. Besides the natural fire rate of the sniper rifle makes it far less effective when not zoomed and shooting from range. The fact that bullets take a long time to get to their target makes snipers limited in their effectiveness, depending on the map. a smaller reticle just makes more sense. If it has to be balanced with less ammo, then so be it. Snipers aren't dominating the battlefield right now. The whole game is fairly balanced.
