Server list loads 'instantaneously' now -- of course all the pings are one red bar until you click on the server. I can actually use the mouse to select a server now -- use to be very difficult to select one, so I just used to use the up/down arrow keys.

Before the patch, server list took 1-2+ minutes to fully load.

I see a vast improvement -- just on the server list which is all this patch addressed. Gameplay remains the same as 1.00

When was this released, today (28-Sept)?

Hats off to getting a patch out so quick, somebody post the change list to those of us stuck at work for the next 8 hrs...

EDIT: gleaned from LucasArts page to answer my own question:

- Improves NAT negotiation for online games which may help improve multiplayer performance.

- Minor fix to server browser screen.

I must say I had high hopes for this patch but I'm disappointed.

It -has- improved the server browser refresh rate. And it has eased the lag a -very- tiny bit, but what it hasn't done is remove the EXTREMELY stupid Fps lock and the game still lags on Multiplayer.

Hopefully we'll see a better patch in the future. For now I'm choosing "A little better".

Though I am now about 80% confident the netcode issues will be fixed so I'm holding on. Till then its single player for me, while its fun, we all bought the game to shoot -each other- in star wars, not bots, online right?

The patch has made my multiplay connections way worse. Granted its not as bad as I originally thought, but it has still made things worse. I think someone forgot to tell Pandemic the basic rules regarding patches..."Patches are made to fix existing problems, not create new ones".

This game is incomplete. It wasn't finished when it was released. I guess I paid $40.00 for the honor of beta testing this game for Pandemic!

The irony is that I don't dare uninstall my game and reinstall without the patch (which as far as I know is the only way to remove this damn patch). Because installation was so buggy it took me three tries and around an hour and a half to finally get it installed. I feel like I am lucky to have gotten the third installation to finally take. I don't dare push my luck!

It's better in that once I'm on a server, I get less lag and the connection seems a bit more stable (but far from perfect).

It's worse in that, no matter what server I'm on, when the map changes, I now get disconnected.

So, overall, it's still about the same - pretty damn bad.:(

People can really be stupid...I mean really REALLY stupid.

When Battlefield 1942 came out..it was a mess..it took the Dev team close to 2 months to come out with a patch.

Battlefield Vietnam...it took the Dev team a little over a month to get out even a minor patch.

The fact that THIS dev team released a quick fix so fast is a good sign of things to come. They could have just as easily released this combined with the major patch. But instead they took the extra effort to make it a seperate patch and release it now.

Seriously...some of you people will never be happy. You must have miserable existances.

The new patch sucks, not only do I lag more, but I cant find the server with the lowest ping within 10 seconds or more. Now I just get a huge list of servers unpinged and cant find the good ones, and I cant use all seeing eye or gamespy because they dont connect to the servers properly.

The fact that its a 1.00a warrants that it won't fix all the dramatic problems. It fixes minor stuff that people were complaining about which the devs thought they could release much faster. And they have also released 2 patches for the PS2 version, so don't tell me they haven't worked on the game in the past 4 weeks. This patch is a sure sign of good things to come. For those who are having trouble with the patch, I'm sorry, and I'm sure the devs are too. Which makes things worse, for them when all you do is complain. These guys try there damnedest to please and the nagging and whining increases ten fold. And don't even think of directing flames towards that comment or me. Didn't vote since I have yet to try the game with the patch.

You're correct - a patchette (not quite enough to actually be called a 'patch') this quickly is, in a way, to be applauded, and shows that the problems will hopefully be sorted fairly quickly, but, to be absolutely blunt, many of them are problems that should have been sorted before the game was released. Whether this is also true of past games is entirely irrelevant.

Just to be clear, I am not criticising the devs here, as I don't know who is responsible for releasing this game in this state.

I can't remember the last game I bought that didn't need a patch out of the box.

It is STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE, games are always rushed out of development.

I can not believe that people are still shocked by this. If you really don't want to play a buggy game And you want to send a message to publishers WAIT to buy games until they've been sufficiently patched.

OTHERWISE:

SUCK IT UP and wait for the patch.

Remember, you vote with your dollar.

Yeah but if you don't complain about the bugs and problems, they won't get fixed. Because then how are they to know what is wrong if no one complains? So complaints are manditory if you want to get some action. It's as simple as that!

And frankly just because other games have been released buggy or unworkable doesn't make it right. I'm sorry if I am bent out of shape because I have worked hours and hours to make the money I spend on a game that I am told that will work, only to find out that it doesn't. That just isn't right and I don't care if others have no problem with this. I paid my 40 plus dollars and I expect to get what I paid for!

Just look on this forum. It is filled with legitamite complaints. These aren't people who are bitching just for the sake of bitching. These are people who simply want to be able to play the game. It is obvious that this game was not ready to be released. So hell yeah I am going to complain. I paid for this game with my hard earned money. That is what gives me the right!!!

again another proof that, when autorities/governement/dev of something do somthing, thers always ppl to complain and/or find disadvantages at the new things. and if they do nothing its even worse.... And saying this patch sux won't make patch come better and faster. So i say they've done a good job with this patch and the game too. It need some fix, thats all.

Well, just glancing to my left at my games collection, here's a list of all the games I could play quite happily with no noticable bugs or problems using the original retail version without patching at all (though some were later improved by patches):

Age of Mythology

Age of Mythology: Titans

Breed

Call of Duty

Destroyer Command

Deus Ex: Invisible War

Doom 3

Farcry

Grand Theft Auto 3

Grand theft Auto: Vice City

Hidden and Dangerous 2

Hitman: Contracts

Homeworld

Homeworld 2

Mafia

Max Payne

Max Payne 2

Medal of Honour Allied Assault

Medal of Honour Allied Assault: Spearhead

Medal of Honour Allied Assault: Breakthrough

Medieval: Total War

Medieval: Viking Invasion

Silent Hunter 2

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Star Trek: Bridge Commander

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Sub Command

Thief 3

Tron 2.0

Unreal 2

Unreal Tournament 2004

Whilst there are quite a few games that did, indeed, need patching (most notably Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam), that is only a handful.

I trust this proves my point.
