Maniac Richard
I need to know how smoothing works in jka. Does it matter about the smoothing that i apply to the mesh in max or will it be smoothed in game no matter what i do in max? I want to make sure that sharp corners are well defined i.e the corners of a belt or a square radio box. My models verts are all welded so im wondering do i need to detach the verts in order to show the non smooth parts of my model or would the smoothness depend on the uvw mapping and unwraping? Please Please help....
Psyk0Sith
There's an option to smooth all surfaces when compiling (just uncheck if you dont need it.) Personally, i've detached faces on some of my models to give a "sharper look" as you said, because max' smoothing groups didnt seem to work. Maniac Richard
Thank you. Also can anyone tell me how to unfold the uv's in uvw unwrap with out it becoming distorted or should i just unfold them manually going by the checker material. Wrong Forum
Isn't there a better way?
Psyk0Sith
I use the unwrap modifier, planar map pretty much everything and weld the UVW's where needed, it's simple but it takes patience (unless you rush it )
TehJace
Don't forget to bump-map it, thus adding a tashty depth to the textures. Meshsmooth is your friend too....(unless it's not in your version O.o)
