OfficerDonNZ
Hi *waves* This question is kind of to do with modding the game but more to do with being able to make scence out of the dreaded dialog.tlk file I'm a complete newbie where modding is concerned. I can manage simple things in the NWN toolset and that's it Anyway if you've played NWN or more to the point ever fired up the toolset you'll know what a boon the dialong eidtor is. You can get all the relevent NPC's dialog with all of the PC's responces and any inter-party banter at the click of a button This is a boon for us fan fiction writers (Yes be afraid be VERY afraid) as we can see at a glance what was said by who and when. I've been looking at the modding tools for Kotor and as far as I can tell there isn't anything that dose this. And I don't know even if it would be possbile to do. Hmmm I'm not too sure if I've explaind myself very well. Here is hoping you good people might be able to help in some way at least.
T7nowhere
You have 2 choices for Dialog editing tk102's Dlgedit or Fred Tetra's kotor tool Dlgedit is a great stand alone editor ,but you will need to extract dlg's to read them. KotOR Tool is the essential tool for getting at KotOR game files And it has a native dlg editor which is great if you want to scan over the games dialog files. Ok this should get you started. tk102
And if you're wondering which .dlg file to extract, you can use KTLK to find the entry in the dialog.tlk file, and then use DLGSearch to find .dlg files that use that entry. Edit: Just a note of clarification, the link you provided, T7, is for GUI DLGEditor, which is different than the text-based DLGEdit utility. Darth333
You should start by reading my Guide for the Newbie in the stickies above: it lists all the tools you need per mod category. Just look under section 3.5.5) dialog editing. Links are included and sometimes there are basic tips for using the tools.
