jebbers Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 anyone else having troble with the Steam registration? i have 56K internet connections(AOL) and it won't let me play because i have to establish a profile with the Steam thingy... anyone else with 56K connections having trouble and how do you solve it?
Sabretooth Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Well I tried this 'Steam' thing and decided to register ina advance. It gets installed beautifully, but when I start it, a little green window saying 'Initializing' comes up with a progress bar having no progress for 'Quite Some Time'. So moi quits it through Ctrl+Alt+Del, curses and swears at it, kicks my table and jumps without a reason. I had the same question, BTW.
jebbers Posted November 27, 2004 Author Posted November 27, 2004 i went to steampowered.com/status and there wasnt anything helpful there...i only want to play offline and i cant.... *cries*
RoxStar Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 To play offline, I *believe* you need to have your password saved, and offline mode switched on in Both Half-Life 2 and Steam.
Nerd_Annhilator Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 I can't even reinstall my game because the ****ing steam servers are "too busy at the moment"
jon_hill987 Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 That is why I havn't got half-life 2 yet (apart from the fact I need a new computer) I don't like steam, It may be combating pirates but it gives ligitimate customers a big problem aswell. Steam Sucks:mad:

Mex Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 I don't see why everyone hates steam so much. I've had no problems with it so far and its always fast. But I guess its different for different people.
