How simple would it be to change a female PC's skin tone for a first-timer?

Ive been wanting to play as a black female PC, but one without the stereotypical facial features. Ive asked a few friends of mine this same question, and they said "Ohhhh, thats easy" but couldn't tell me how or why that it is easy.

But my question really is...Should somebody whos never modding anything before try to do it himself or are there experienced modders out there who could do this in a matter of seconds?

It depends on what you want to do. I will assume you don't know how to mod yet to explain it to you.

Heads and bodies in Kotor are build with 3 types of files, the .mdl and .mdx, that stands for the 3D model and the .tpc that stands for the image that will be used as a skin applied over the 3D model.

Now if you want to change the head model, and make, say, lips thiner or hair bigger, i have bad news for you. We haven't figured a way to do it yet. Take a look in my posts in this thread:

On the other hand it is possible to edit the image that the model uses for a skin. All you will need to do is to choose a head you want to replace, extract it with Kotor Tool, paint any changes you want, save as a .tga file and put in your Override, just like i did with this Darth Maul face bellow:

So, it is really not a big deal on a modding point of view. The only hard part if any is how proficient one person is with painting programs.

There are several tutorials in the "Want to start modding" stickie that you will find very usefull to do what you want.

If you still have any specific questions after trying them out i would be glad to help you more.

Good luck.:)
