Space Combat Idea (Map makers come here!)

Okay, I have an idea for a map that to me sounds like it would be cool.

Setting: a Super Star Destroyer and a Mon Cal Cruisers cross paths in space. They both tun to let their side gins pummel the other ship.

Okay, so there is are 2 hangers and a main turret outpost on each ship. There is also the Bridge (destroyable, uncapturable, like the Techno Union ships in Geonosis.) The hangers spawn X and Y wings, or TIE Fighters and Bombers. The bridge has a TON of health so you will need to have a combination of people manning the guns, and bombers raining death from above and the fighters drawing the attention of the enemy anti bomber support. It would be a very vehicle heavy map with PLENTY of ships and guns for all. The only real ground battle here would be after one side has captured one of the other side's CPs. Anyone think they could get something like this to work?

Wow, glad to get good responces. By the way, I have never played KotOR so I would not know. I don't think it would be that hard. Most of the parts of the SSD and MCC can be just parts of the level. Then, all you have to do is put a bunch of vechs in the hangers and different types of turrets in the gun station.

Nah, its more like the SSD siege map for JKA. There are several maps i was thinking of doing when i work out how to work the darned editor. One was a FFA Map where you have one Command post each and you just blast the hell out of each other. This would have a Foot-Only version, a Ground vehicles+foot version, a starfighter +foot version and an All encompasing version. I was thinking of making the starfighter one exactly like this to stop Fighter-foot troop fragging...

 

One question to all mappers, How the hell do you start the editor?

Well, except that most of the parts of the ships COULD NOT be part of the level. The editor is too limited for that. It does a fair job of terrain, but no fine editing control. What you NEED is the working XSI exporter to build the stuff as meshes. Me I'm waiting on that one to do a version of the T4 capture and boarding scene. Although, reading this thread, I'm thinking it might be a damn cool map to do this way: T4 is captured by an ISD. The Imps have to board the T4 and fight their way to, and hold, the bridge. The rebels have to fight their way OFF the T4, while not allowing it to be taken, and destroy the console in the flight control deck which runs the tractor beam projectors (it'd basically be Endor). HOWEVER, the rebels show up during the battle aboard a Nebbie, and beging launching X/Ys, and turret stations begin raking the ISD, trying to take out the energy generator. The Imps counter with TIEs out of the hangar of the ISD. The whole thing is set so that either destruction of the tractor control panel, the capture of the T4 bridge, or the destruction of the energy generator, causes tickets to run like crazy. But, again, we need the XSI exporter to do this.

Making Space Battles in Battlefront

I have battlefront and i really want to make some good space battles, better than even battlefront 2

 

was thinking about making capital ships destroyable from the outside and inside and putting those large guns all over them and maybe even sheild generators for the bridge

 

and making it so capital ships could destroy one another

 

also want to make battle over yavin, endor, naboo, courasent
