jedispy
Have you ever had questions about something, anything, and you didn't know where to go for the answer. I have hundreds of these types of questions, and it bugs me. Here's one that I was wondering for a while: Q: Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. When other parts of the world received the gift of telephony (such as Europe) how was the first call from the U.S. made? We didn't have satellites or space technology back then. Due to the curve of the Earth, and the distance, it would not see possible for a radio wave to carry the signal (not to mention a signal strong enough back then). Did they cross the Atlantic on a boat with hundreds of miles of cable? How the heck did they do it??? Feel free to answer my question, or post your own nagging question. I'm interested in seeing other peoples' questions. _ _ _ _ _ EDIT HA! I found the answer. It looks like the correct answer was actually the last one. taken from http://www.historychannel.com/perl/print_book.pl?ID=223836 Overseas radio-telephone service was introduced commercially in 1927, but the problem of amplification prevented the laying of telephone cables until 1956, when the world’s first transoceanic submarine telephone cable, extending between Newfoundland and Scotland, was placed in service. Phew!!! I feel better. I'm interested in seeing other peoples' nagging questions.

Boba Rhett
1. Because people still want SW games and they know this. 2. Because the President left and the company was left in the hands of the money handlers who were spooked when they noticed the game didn't have the words, "star" or, "wars" in the title. 3. She was about to die, it was emotional. Why are some people just too damn important to use punctuation or even anything resembling grammar? jedispy
scumm local i got a burning questioun Well I think the simple answer for that question has to do with the wording. You mention the "cash cow." Well scumm local, people are cattle. At least most are. There's lots of money in cattle. You see, for example, people liked the movie Gladiator. They loved how the good guy was so good in the gladatorial games. They liked how nice the kind old emperor, Marcus Aurelius, was, and how mean his dummy dummy dumb-head son, Commodus, was. They applauded and mooed at how the nice mr. good guy killed mean ol' dummy Commodus and restored the Roman Republic, thus destroying the Roman Empire once and for all. uh.....yeah....wanna know how it REALLY happened? Marcus Aurelius was a good emperor...if by good we leave out all sense of morality. He was a tyrranical ruler who was one of the most evil emperors when it came to persecuting Christians. His son, Commodus, ruled for 12 years. Now, if I'm not mistaken, the movie begins by saying that it takes place in 180 AD (the year Marcus died). O.k. so we have a timeframe. We know Commodus is in charge of the game now. A little time goes by, things happen, and then the good guy kills Commodus. Well the movie doesn't imply that 12 years have gone by, so we pretty much conclude that maybe 4-5 years tops have passed. Uh......but they're wrong. In fact, based on a thing called historical knowledge, Commodus should have won, and the good guy should have lost. Now comes the part about the Roman Empire. You see...the Roman Republic preceded the Empire. Julius Caesar came to power, and declared himself emperor around 48 BC. So....let's do the math: 48 BC = -48 Subtract 1 year since there was no year 0 (having year 0 would add a value of 1 to the equation) (-48 + 180) -1 = 131 years so far that had passed since the founding of the Roman Empire. So by the time this movie started, the Republic had been gone for almost a century and a half. Yet there are people in the movie that remember it. Uh...nice try. As for reinstating the republic....no! Wrong! In 500 AD (before then actually) the Roman Empire was destroyed. Dead, fallen. There was no reemergence of the Roman republic. The Western Roman Empire was gone. The Eastern Roman Empire transformed into the Byzantine Empire, which was destroyed much later by the Ottomans. So what is my point in all this?? People are CATTLE!!!! Boba Rhett Why are some people just too damn important to use punctuation or even anything resembling grammar? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! coz they dont know how to talk good n stuff dont you think

jedispy
Heh. Nope. Maybe I took too many. Sorry, I have a tendency to get on soapboxes (just look at my other posts). I've never played "sam n max" myself. I can only imagine the reason it was canned had to do with the amount of money it was bringing in. All that I can conclude is that it was not enough. You see.....corporations don't really care about how much a person enjoys a game. Oh sure they care if a person hates a game, and then passes it along to millions of others and tells them not to buy it. THEN businesses care. Otherwise, nobody cares. Don't get me wrong. It would be nice if they cared, but they don't. O.k. Next question: Q: I know that this may be sacrelige <spelling?>, but what the heck happened to Star Trek Enterprise? It was going along (albeit with not very good plots) and all of a sudden this is the last season. No warning...just out of the blue. What happened?! Boba Rhett
Flailing ratings. You can tell they were getting desperate, what with all the Vulcan skin we got to see. I thought this season was getting better but I guess they didn't want to try stringing it along anymore. Arrest Development has just been canceled as well. What's up with that? jedispy
I guess you're right. I think things got better in the 3rd season (that whole Xindi thing) but it was too late. First two seasons were retarded, and they did things that ticked off too many Trek fans (like introducing the Borg. WTF?!) It's too bad though. Now that they brought the Romulans into the mix, things had potential to turn good. I've never been disappointed whenever they brought the Romulans into things. Makes me wonder if there will ever be another Trek series. They've done just about everything! In Voyager they killed off the Borg. In DS9 they beat the Dominion. In ST:Nemesis they became buddies with the Romulans. In ST:TNG they became buddies with the Klingons. There aren't any bad guys left. Oh sure they tried to introduce new bad guys in ST:Insurrection, but it was lame. It's like the NFL drafting receivers among the fastest runners in the Special Olympics. It just doesn't work. o.k. o.k.....I'm trying to keep off that soapbox. BTW...has there been any new mention of that rumored Star Wars series?
