*Empire Warlords vs. Empire at War*

Hello EaW fans !

I have dremed for EaW since the time of SW Rebellion ('98). Anyway I have some cool information that I have to share with you.

Eville Jedi is the creator of the Warlords Mod that is 100% complete for playng (maybe you know maybe not). This mod seem to have better space battles than EaW. 80 ship models fully functional and historicaly SW acuratte (Form books)- they even have Vong ships ready. I just hope that EaW will rise up to the challenge in the space battles area I mean. For the landbased EaW is wat more advanced.

I really think that spacebattles in the old Rebellion and IG2 style no matter how advanced are no match for the mobility and visual effects from Warlords. In case you didn't know in EaW you can order your ships to move up and down but only in a plane 2D movement dimenssion.

The EWarlords is based on HW2 and it is estimated that soon it will have a singleplayer campaign also. Its quite different from the Rebellion Game concept of the EaW Game but still it has the coolest SW space battles that we will ever seen.

Here is the EW site :

I actally was under the influnce of alchool when I maded this post.

Anyway I reealy hope I didn't do somenthing terribly bad and out of it something good will comme. The Force or the Alchool was telling me that it will work well and LEC will take a interest....by offering a job to this guy.

I'm going to die.... Eville Jedi is upset with me. So it will probably be my last comment about this subject .... still I see good things in the future .... but at the moment it's just me.

You're not able to lock the thread cause you're not a Moderator.

:yoink:

There, I think it fits better in here. :)

Warlords is the best damn game mod conversion into star wars I've ever seen. :)

Been awhile since I downloaded the last version, I should probably get around to it again. :D

Nice to hear that there will be a single player campaign comming.

I played the early releases, and my problem is that the stuff is too freaking big... maybe he fixed that in the later releases, I don't know.

As for which is better, I would say that Warlords is better of the two, but I think Star Wars Rebellion is better of them all. I played that mod so much.

(And yes I know swrebellion is hosting Warlords, no need to point that out.)

Even though you used "to seem", you can't really say that without having tried EaW. You might say larger battles perhaps etc, but better includes gameplay.

LEC will know this (if they don't already) one way or another, you can't really hide it. Has been in PC Gamer as well etc.

I enjoy Warlords, except it's bugged as the Hot Place. It crashes if I select the Warlords rule set (which lets you choose restrictions on building, different starting units, etc.), and the last time I played my TIE Fighters flat out refused to enter the hangar bays of the X-7 factory, refinery ship, X-9 shipyard, or Escort Carrier. Bloody annoying, especially as TIEs don't have hyper drives:mad:. Contrary to what the thread poster says, it's not 100% complete and ready for playing.

Also, ships jump around way too much. I'd prefer it if cruisers and frigates could just sit still or at least stay level while firing, but they have to do saltomortales and other weird acrobatic manoevers. It's probably an engine limitation, but it's pretty annoying to look at.

What struck me first about it, though, was the sheer, huge number of ships (80, it's said by a "certain person";)). It's one of those games with almost too many units, like the Dominions series or Empire Earth. The four sides have some ships and installations in common (such as the corvette and the various factories), but a ton of unique ships, too. Some of them look a bit weird, but they all look pretty good. There's also a huge amount of research in there.

All in all, it's a good X-Wing series-inspired mod (apparently; at least it reminds me a lot about XWA, and it's borrowed several designs like the Mole Miner and XQ-7 from the series). I'm confident a lot of the glitches will be fixed as it progresses towards 1,0 and beyond:).

I do recommend it to the rest of you resident SW nutters.

Oh, and starships refuse to hurt each others. I had my trusty MC-80 fire at a Victory-Class and its task force for ten minutes, and neither did any damage whatsoever. On the other hand, two squadrons of X-Wings made a torpedo run on a Refinery ship and blew it to bits in seconds:rolleyes:. And sub-system cannons don't go away when they reach 0 health, although it seems they stop firing.

It has potential, though, and it is not bad.
