JeepaPaedm
in the original xwing, you had a choice. If you were getting wasted by the enemy you could opt to eject or rely on autoeject. Although ejecting could lead to capture, you also had the possibilit of being recovered by the the rebels. If you relied on autoeject, sometimes it failed and you'd die. And to revive your pilot you'd need to return to a lower rank what I'm getting at is whenever i lose a craft in XWA i always return in a shuttle, safe and sound. - is this the case on "hard" setting as i play on "medium" - i liked that choice in xwing, you could risk your life, in hope you'd shake them off, but if you didn't you'd lose all your hard work.... K_Kinnison
The problem with both X-wing, and TIE fighter. Was if your Pilot was captured or was killed, you got to see the neat cutscene, but often you had to start from mission 1, tour 1... again.. this got very flustrating for people. For X-wing, every time i finished a mission, i went back to DOS,backed up my pilot using a BAT program. Started X-wing again, then enter the blasted Code, and was able to continue. It was kind of like an annoying commercial in the middle of a movie. with TIE fighter the program was able to back-up the pilot for you. But i guess with the rushed schedule of XWA, they never got to do that
Guest garyah99
Hence the reason I never finished the original X-Wing; I got tired of getting 3/4 of the way through a campaign, then having to start at square 1 again. Very frustrating and boring.
Admiral Odin
same here. I got frustrated on the redemption mission. I finally rammed the incoming missiles. ------------------ "Dulce bellum inexpertis." (Sweet is war to those who have never experinced it.) JeepaPaedm
But didn't you have the chance to hyper out if your craft was taking a beating, its not like you had to get to a nav bouy in original x-wing. - the only time you were screwed was when you're hyperdrive got damaged. First sign of trouble, I'd hyper out and retry the mission. I mean why stick around if you're gonna lose. I thought it was a good option....It's realisitic. - Although I only ever completed the original game with a mouse and keyboard, might be harder using a joystick? Red Leader Ace
Yeah, I was always wondering why they left that option out of XWA, it certainly would add to the realism, and you wouldn't be humiliated by seeing your craft explode in front of you with the message... "You were killed by..." I really don't like that! Anyway, I agree with you 100%
JeepaPaedm
I loved the cutscenes to go with dying/being recovered by rebels/vader's interrogation. I hate lucasarts for rushing XWA.....the unfinished feel really is annoying....especially the final cutscene, when you've completed the game...I really feel ripped off JP
Red Leader Ace
Yaeh, and then the whole matter with Uncle Antan is just left behind. I mean, come on..he betrayed his own family! Surely there's got to be more to the story than just one mission...
BattleDog
I hated that on the CD you got vaped then you had to start from the same mission but with zero score, I always played the mission with Topacepilot so I knew how to beat it. ------------------
Guest Fondas
As a matter of fact, I was quite happy that in XWA my pilot couldn't die. The game is quite hard (and monolithic) as it is.
aZnJedi588
Whats monolithic?
