KOTOR to TSL?

Just had a thought of a potental legal way to move KOTOR content to TSL and vice versa legally.

Just script out what is needed to play and give instructions a mod of which files to extract and create a model converter. If it works then the person can just move KOTOR content over to TSL or vice versa without actually downloading it off the intenet...

Just a thought that could give people an in on how to do it without stepping on toes, atleast overtly and to a digree which would summon the Dark Lawyers of the Sith...

Possibly, but that would be a major project.

More importantly, that would still be kinda scetchy in legal terms. I don't think the moderators here would like that very much. It would be cool though. I just don't think it would be acceptable. But hey, what do I know?

We'll have to wait and see, but IMHO this would be the most kosher way of doing it without pissing off the vicious Darth Lawsuit. :p

Though if this could work then maybe something like BG1tutu, which is a TC that basically imports all of BG1 into BG2's engine that requires that you own both games. Bioware has not clamped down on them... ;)

Bioware did not make K2. Obsidian did. Anyway, Lucas Arts is the one with the lawyers.

The other problem I see is that you have to have one of the game CD's in your drive to play the game. Whats to stop you from downloading K1 and then just using the K2 disk? Bioware and Lucas Arts are still selling K1 because they are still making money off of it. No, now that I've thought about it, this is just a bad idea. Clever idea, yes. Legal idea, no. Sorry, but you do get points for ingenuity.

14. Mods containing assets (models, textures, sounds, etc.) ported from another game are prohibited

It is against Lucasarts policy to port assets from one game to another. Holowan Laboratories does not condone porting of this nature, and moderators will close or delete any thread or posts discussing such mods. The exception to this is if the asset in question is present in both KOTOR and TSL. Also, modders may create from scratch mods that resemble assets from another game.

And so endith the thread...
