This is more a rant than anything, I'll delete this if they release the patch tomorrow or something amazing like that. ; P

Well, here we are, April 3rd, going on the 4th (I couldn't sleep, it's like 3:50am here, thanks daylight savings! heh).

No patch, no mod tools. They said "a month" or "30 days from release" right? Well, time's up LucasArts, what's going on? I wouldn't expect them to make a major announcement on April Fool's day, but still...

At least give us an announcement, SOMETHING, to let us know you're working on Republic Commando and not just planning to leave it like it is. Multiplayer can be pretty fun for what it is, but it's wearing thin because of the many things you just can't do that you should be able to do in a modern FPS even barring the lack of options in other modern games. There's so many little quirky bugs that should be fixed.

Anyway, rant off, I just wish they'd say SOMETHING official, like "sorry guys, April Fool! no patch, never" or "it's coming out next Friday, be patient."

And even if they somehow decided that the game isn't worth patching, what about mod tools? Surely those are coming right? RIGHT?

Somebody with insider contacts find out for the rest of us if you can and report back!

Rant off... good luck devs... don't let us down.

When people say "RC is one of the most bugless games I've ever played" they are talking about single player.

That and I wouldn't really call the MP component "complete" since it lacks so many basic features. So that's my biggest reason for wanting a patch. SP doesn't really need patching...

I assume you voted "I don't care," TK. ;)

Which is what I said and I agree! (from what I've seen, haven't beaten the game yet but everyone says it's polished).

I voted that they'll release one, but not for a long time. That's how LA is. :)

Could be, could be. I haven't followed a pure LA title for awhile, so I sort of hoped they had changed. I guess change still comes slowly...

Since it's already the evening of the 5th and no word yet, then it's probably a safe bet (unless they plan to update Friday!).

Heh, it is. All it is is the new Hangar map and UnrealEd turned over to the mappers.

How are new skins and such to be made?

hmmmmmmm, just had a chance to play around with unreal ed for RC, most of the standart UE features are present. Should beable to extract the texture packages for you TK-8252 so you can skin them if you'd like. I did notice how they took out the option to export the player models so you could re-rig them and use them to create your own player character, i.e. take a wookiee, export it, rig it in max then put it back in the game as a playable character.

I'm going to play around with this alot tomorrow so I'll post what I come accross. I can say this though. Were definatly going to see some freakin big maps now.....and if we get some more "mod" tools the ability to add vehicles.

Wow, I go away for 2 days and a patch comes out!

It certainly conformed to my lowest possible expectations.

While a new map is good, and UnrealEd is good... argggh!

Anyway, since this thread is now outdated, I'll close it. Feel free to start a new patch thread if you like, though it sounds like there isn't much to discuss.

In any case, I guess now we can get on making those new maps...!

Thanks devs, but I hope this isn't the end...

The auto download feature is a good point. The patch is only 2.9 megs. Did they not see this thing coming?

One parting shot... notice how the readme file for the patch is dated April 1st... concidence?
