Surfnshannon
Um.... even if she dies he's still going to be pissed off she's dead. In the spoilers it says he rips apart the room he's in when he learns of her death? So how would he seem less like a villan?
Sabretooth
He rips apart the room when he realises that his wife is dead, the sole thing he was trying to stop when he entered the darkness. If one then watches all the movies in succession, you can't help but feel: "Aw, your wife is OK, just chill out!" You would feel sympathy for him and the true hatred would be pointed towards the Emperor (which should be, actually). Still, Vader is a figure to be feared. Supposing that he was fooled into believing that Padmé died, Vader would become just a pawn, regretting himself and killing everyone like some sort of psycho. Meanwhile, if you take that she did die, there would even more of a tragedy appeal, because Vader killed Padmé, the very thing he wanted to save. That way he becomes the true villian. A little confusing, I admit.
Hannibal
I feel no sympathy for him becuase it is all his fault. I feel he can be feared because he has nothing. He doesn't have his wife, mother or the Jedi anymore. All he has is the Emperor urging him to destory everything. Imagine the 2nd most powerful person in the Universe with no one to stop him and nothing to care about. Pretty scary.

Its saying - look, ive lost everything, ive got nothing left to loose, i can do what i like without fear. It would make you sympathise with him, but still make you fear him because he has that fearless reclosness (sp?)
adillon
if the skywalker children are very strong in the force - which we know they are - it could very well be the images and feelings leia has of her mother are because of this strong force sensitivity, and from spending all that time in the womb. i think padme's death can be attributed to anakin force-choking her, but only because the anakin she knew and loved wouldn't do that to her. and since he did, she was overwhelmed with grief, and truly lost the will to live anymore, since she could/would not be with this evil, twisted man.
