Jedi Knight!!!

Hello,

 

I am a HUGE fan of this series and own them all, even the original Dark Forces. I think this mod is amazing and coming along very well. I downloaded and played the 3 level demo and must say I was very impressed with the similarity between this and the original, even down to the music! I can't wait for the full release! Anyway, I am suggesting that after the team finishes this mod, they should do the same thing to Jedi Knight! It's an awsome game, but like Dark Forces has horrific graphics and is in bad need of a facelift. Would you consider?

Yep. Jedi Knight is being worked on as we speak and the DF Mod Team has been kind enough to help us get started and organized. So, in a roundabout sort of way...

Woops, didn't see that, I must've thought it said Dark Forces 1. Well, that's good news! I'm very happy to see that Jedi Knight is being revived as well. Is the same team that is making the Dark Forces mod doing this, or is it a new team?

We are a new (and right now very small) team that is making the Jedi Knight Mod. We have, however, gotten a lot of help from the DF Mod Team.

I'm a little surprised at not only this thread, but that I am not all that interested in replaying DF2: Jedi Knight. I was kind of hoping you guys might do an 'actual' sequal to Dark Forces, that didn't include Force powers or a lightsaber.

 

I thought the original Dark Forces was the best game of the series, and I was dying to see an updated version with better graphics and an improved save game system (and I guess better AI couldn't hurt either). And you guys have provided all that.

 

But I found with Jedi Knight, the lightsaber was pretty much the only weapon worth using, as it had auto defense built in, and the light saber seemed like a simple hacking weapon. Also, the force powers seemed to be too powerful, as you could just force heal yourself any time you wanted, and the enemies seemed to have an unlimited amounts of Force energy and could continuously hit you with Force attacks.

I would have to seriously disagree here. I did enjoy having the saber to get me out of a tight spot here and there (some times it was the necessary weapon), but I very much heavily reiled on the blaster and other guns, except for the true "saber deathmatch" levels against Yun, Gorc and Pic, Maw, Sariss, and of course the Dark Lord himself, Jerec. I tried not to use the FORCE Powers at all until I had beaten the game a couple of times and researched the cheat codes....trying to unlock and discover all of the secrets. I found the FORCE Powers completely unnecessary with the exception of jump and speed to win the game at all. FORCE Heal ....never used it...too many health power ups in the game. I can not however say the Same for JO, or JA.
