Merchant Item Sorting?

Greets All!

Yeah, it's that time again, ChAiNz.2da has a question... *RUN*..

Does anyone know right off-hand how we can have our custom merchants have items sorted in a semi-quasi-relatively "normal" order??

Apparently sorting either by name or ResRef doesn't do squat with KotOR Tool, and heaven forbid I have to do this manually in a GFF editor ;)

I'm currently working on a "nifty" mod, but it'd really be helpful if I could sort this mess of a shop I've built... hehehe...

I think everyone will like it once I get it completed (maybe even by tomorrow if I'm lucky) :D

Bummer, that's the problem I'm having :(

No matter what order I place the items within the shop, tha game seems to "organize" completely different than how I had them arranged...

For example if I tried grouping all similiar item upgrades together by adding them one by one to the merchant list (thinking it would retain this order)... whenever I go in the game and spawn the shop... it gets all jumbled and non-relative upgrades are mixed together...

I've tried doing it manually ordered, then used both name and resref sort... with the same results...

Maybe it's just my game wanting to screw around with me :p

I'll give it another try since I'm somewhat awake now... ;)

As far as I know, the game automatically sorts the store list according to BaseItem settings no matter what order you place the items in the store template. Not much to do anything about for just one store.

You'd have to modify baseitems.2da and that's more trouble than it's worth IMHO. I think it sorts the list according to the "itemtype" column value in the baseitems.2da file, but I'm probably wrong. :)

You are correct ;) and explains why my game is just deciding to play with my head now.. :p

Ahh, well... it's no biggie or "game crasher" for my project ;)

Thanks stoffe! :D

To add to what stoffe said, the game sorts stuff with the same itemtype, and stuff within the same itemtype are sorted from most expensive to least expensive, so you could modify your prices to get a little movement. (I noticed that playing with the merchant you sent me. :D)

I thought the very same thing man, that's why I was getting so confused...

Apparently the storepanelslot determines the 'category' of where the items live (All, Weapons, Armor, Misc)...

And I would've tried your trick Mono, but by now I guess you know why I couldn't... all my items are free and I didn't include seperate .uti's ;) hehehe...
