cry_of_paine
I don't know if I should even bother with the spoiler warning or not, but since I've only had the game for a few weeks, I imagine others might be coming in late too. Incidentally, I can be pretty wordy, so to get to the immediate heart of the post, look for the *****. Since this is my first post, I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a long time mod enthusiast, with median skills and little time. I've done minor mods for pretty much every game I own (usually little more than changing models or reskinning). I really became interested in it though with Vampire TM: Bloodlines. Unfortunately that one didn't have nearly the interest or the support that these do. Anyway, I had a few ideas for some mods. Some of them I'm working on, and a couple that I have no clue how to go about doing. So I'll start with the one I'm doing right now. Ultimately, what I want is a mod for KOTOR 1 that will let you relearn who you were. You would find pieces of your old equipment along the way, powerful items embedded with unique "force" powers. My first mod is a armband that will use a "spell". You wake up on the ES, get your clothes, and notice a tear in them. Out fall 2 armbands, one a golden metal, the other a black stone, both embedded with crystals. You can probably see where this is going, so here's what they do. The black one is a spell "Darkness Within". It will do a percentage of damage to all enemies in an area based on your DS points (((50-Alignment)/50)*enemyHP). It will also do damage to your HP based on your LS points ((Alignment/50)*yourHP). In addition, it will give you a DS point randomly when you use it. I think I got how to do that, but what I want now is a unique or appropriate vfx to go along with it. I remember seeing something when I'm fighting in the Sith academy that looks like a black whirlwind (similar to the stunned effect, only dark). That would be good, or if there's some way to change one of the other effects (maybe fire) to look black, that would be even better. ************************* So my question is, does anyone know either what spell it is that has that effect, or how to change the textures for the other effects? ************************* Eventually what I'd like is a mod where you find not just the maps on all these worlds, but also items belonging to Revan. You would find his/her entire outfit, and each has a special effect. The bands would have a special force power, the crystal would have some kind of modifier that would effect your fighting ability, the belt would have something to do with your physical abilities, the robes would make you more authoratative and effect your physical well being, and the mask would hide your presence, and also enhance/detract your connection to the force. Here's a list of what I'm thinking for each (some are more well thought out than others). Bands - DS (discussed already) or LS - Blinding Light (not sure what it will do yet) Saber Crystal (on Dt) - similar to the (your name) crystal in KOTOR TSL. Basically something that will boost your skills based on your alignment. Belt (on Tat) - Not sure what to do with this one, I'm thinking more of the same, but perhaps permanent increased speed (I find all the running around gets tedious after a while). Robes (on Kash) - based on the Revan/Star Forge robes, only with special effects: Both - Char + 5, Persuade + 5, Dominate Mind Revan - Turn enemies against each other, drains your hp when wearing it Star Forge - Enemies stop fighting, drop what they're doing, and leave (receive half xp than from killing), recover HP when wearing Mask (on Mannan) - Disguise ability (look like anyone you want), Wisdom + 5 DS - Recover FP LS - Drains FP Also, along with that, I want to have a custom planet that you do after killing Malek, but before the endscene, where you go to discover your past. Also, I'd like to do a DS mod where you would go back and capture the planets you've visited (mostly, I just want to kill those annoying fish. ) Also, I think visiting some of the planets from the prequals (namely Corescaunt, Alderan, or the volcano planet I can't remember the name of) would be awesome. I was thinking that Revan could actually be from the volcano world. Just cause it's a cool world. Finally, I saw someone mention a "Grey" jedi mod, and that's something I've been thinking about ever since Ep 3. They kept talking about the one who would "bring balance to the force". Obviously it wasn't Anakin, and personally, I don't see how getting rid of the other side (by killing Vader and the Emporer) brings balance, so I don't think it's Luke either. So what I'd (way in the future) like to do is make a mod (either for 1 or 2) that has you after the events of Return of the Jedi, where you're several generations down from Luke in the Skywalker line. The sith are back, and the galaxy is on the verge of civil war (again). You however, don't care. You've broken off from the Jedi and the Sith, and are on your own (ala the Exile). However, events conspire to bring you back to the force, and you're now hunting down the ancient past, the birthplace of the Jedi, the Sith, and the Force itself in an attempt to restore peace, bring balance, yada yada yada. Or maybe just hock it for major creds.
Darth333
Welcome to the forums that's a huge agenda you have there... It's getting a bit late here so i'll just give you an indication for the visual effect thing: For the vfx effects, I suggest cheking them with tk102's vfx armband: http://www.pcgamemods.com/5896/ (which is also included in the AIOFPM: http://www.pcgamemods.com/7313 ) You can test all the visual effects and even combine them to see what they look like. I know there is an explosion effect which is used in the AIOFPM but I don't recall which one: http://img47.photobucket.com/albums/v144/Darth333/explosionvfx1.jpg (I think it was force power death ray)

But that is my 2 cents on that subject :-) not trying to start any arguments just stating what I think.
General Kenobi
Then I'll throw in mine Episode III there was balance 1 Jedi Master Yoda 1 Sith Lord Sidious 1 Jedi Master Kenobi 1 Sith Lord Vader So "technically" he sorta brought about balance then as well The list of stuff you have is massive there. The planets would be a massive undertaking as RedHawke's Ord Mantell MOD for K1 can attest. If you want to do a custom planet or the like I'd HIGHLY recommend using it as a reference for where you choose your planet as. I'd recommend that one for playing as well as he outdid himself on that bad boy The permanent increase on speed (I believe in TSL) can be adjusted via a 2da edit (ChAiNz would know better than I though). I'd personally use the "turbo" cheat as it really gives you a speed boost and from what I remember playing through it was permanent as long as you saved it with the cheat on. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. General Kenobi
cry_of_paine
Well, it's taken all night, but I finally managed to attach a "force" power to the armband. And it does everything I originally wanted it to. Unfortunately, I've come up with new ideas for it, and I'm already up way past my bedtime, so I'll have to put it on hold for now. Is this stuff addicting or what? I'll be sure to check out those links, as the effects I'm using (basic lightning) just don't match at all what I had in mind. Tomorrow. Thanks for all the great replys, and I'll be sure to have an arguement ready for the whole balance thing once my brain starts working again. cry_of_paine
being both dark and light is a balance IMHO. But that is my 2 cents on that subject :-) not trying to start any arguments just stating what I think. I didn't mean "arguement" like a fight. More like debate, I love a good debate. First, no matter how fast you run, you'll never be able to play teeter totter with yourself. In other words, being light at one point, and dark at one point, isn't balance, it's indicision. Wishy washy. And they didn't say that he would bring balance to the galaxy, or to the jedi/sith. This isn't a numbers game where the force will be balanced when there's 4 jedi and 4 sith. They said balance to the force itself. So here's what I see. There's the light side, which represents order. There's the dark side which represents chaos. In and of themselves, neither is "good" or "evil", it's in how they are used (as the old saying goes, guns don't kill people...). But for some reason, those who follow the light are almost compelled to be good (although watching the prequals, some of those Jedi weren't exactly the pinacles virtue that you'd expect, and I don't mean Anakin), and those who follow the dark are "influenced" (to use their term) to be evil. And in fact, neither one can function without the other. Too much order, and there is no change, we become stagnant. Too much chaos, and there is no focus, nothing get's accomplished. And yet for some reason, they can't seem to co-exist. My thought is that for some reason, the force has been split. The force itself is out of balance. There is no middle ground, only ever escallating levels of darkness or light, influencing force users to become even more dark/light. So my idea is to have a quest (or ideally another movie hint hint) where you are on a quest to determine the source of the rift, and rebalance the force.
