Maxrate Question

I know i know, not you again, well yep me again.

I wounder if there a way to speedup the download pk3 files directly from server to client.

I have tested with sv_maxrate 25000 on the server and /rate 25000 on the clientside it downloaded with around 10 to 15 kbps. when i added sv_maxrate 50000 and /rate 50000 on the clientside it downloaded from 25 kbps and fell down to 20 and stays on 20 kbps. Aint there a way to cut the limitation to get more then 20 kbps ?

with some mods, you can redirect downloads to a http site, this eliminates the slow downloads from the server because fast dl-s from a server would lag the other players playing most likely. some mods that do this are red slushi and perhaps xmod? i dunno if iether have implimented it fully yet, or if its just on teh drawing board, they are just two i heard of.

There is one thing i dont like, that is that lucasarts says "We dont support mods", but people keeps telling about mods does this mods does that, for this mod you need this and for that mod you need that and so on.

I didnt meantion any mods in that text, that would mean that i DONT use any mods.

its just "YES this way" or "NO, its not possible".

 

I dont want my clan members to download from http, it doesnt lag on my server with 4 x players download at the same time with 20 kbps download per player + 4 players dueling. I want to increase the download bandwidth its that simple. I like to recommend downloading directly from the server instead of going to http pages.

I want to increase the downloading bandwidth so every player can download with 50 kbps x 8 = 400 kbps, i would have alot more bandwidth avalible even with 50 kbps to 1 person with max clients 8 x.

I dont know, i dont recommend by using any mods. The limits are better on mods, but bigger chance for some short of a crash or bugs might exist too, and they are not supported.

Just take a good look on there upgrade version after version and you will see how many bugs has been fixed on mods and think of how many bugs might still exist which havnt been fixed.

 

I still cant fix my powerduel crash nor get any help from lucasarts to it, think how many bugs i might have if i was using mods.
