zodden
A few days ago I finished the game as DS, after playing through as LS the first. I played on the PC and with no mods for the first run, and a few like the Holowan plugin and a few others the 2nd time around. Holowan plugin does make the game a bit unbalanced but it was fun all the same. To put it bluntly this is one of the best games ever made. I am surprised I did not get it back in early 04 when it came out for the PC, but after reading so much about it I finally gave in and got a copy. The story was A list movie quality the whole way though. In fact this game would make a great movie or TV series. This is one of the best writing for any game I have played. This goes right up there with Planescape Torment and Baldurs gate series, but I should not be surprised I guess since it was the same people. Bioware sure knows how to make a great game. I was so drawn in by the story that I took a day off work to finish it when I was near the end. (I had been playing it till like 2am the night before so I was too sleepy to go in lol) The graphics are also top notch and for a game thats 2 years old, thats a great compliment. I played at 1600x1200 with all bells and whistles maxed out with a Radeon x800 XT PE. With a card that can handle it, it looks amazing and the sound is stunning. The music and voice acting all top quality. I try to find a complaint about the game but as hard as I can there is nothing I did not like about it. I starting playing games back in the late 70s and this games makes my top 5 all-time list. For the amount of games I have tried, thats some accomplishment (especially since I worked for PC Gamer magazine in the 90s and got paid to play games lol) Now I will start Sith Lords, although I might wait for the restoration project to finish first. anyway great game and if you have not played it go and get it! Char Ell
Zodden - Welcome to LucasForums! You said it. KotOR is an awesome game and it's no wonder it won the 2003 Game of the Year award. I was a late comer to the game as well, having picked it up early December 2004. KotOR: TSL had already been released for the XBOX. But the KotOR storyline was so compelling and just drew me in. I couldn't help but play it all day and deep into the night. Then as I browsed the Internet looking for more info on KotOR I found this site and the modding community and was amazed at the variety and quality of mods the game had. I just haven't been that interested in any other games ever since.
The Doctor
Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I did as well, and I think it's safe to say that it's one of the best, if not the best, games in the world.
Master Alex
I played both game and thought KOTOR1 did not make it on to my top 5 list KOTOR 2 did. If you want a complaint then mention those glitches. They don't hinder my gaming experience but they can get anoying.
TheGreenGoblin
I have a friend who has never played an RPG in his entire life, I got him to play the game and he loved it. What made me laugh the hardest was when he got to Malak he tried to hit him with some Force Storm, Malak shrugged that off, he then hit him with his saber which did little damage and he was killed in about two or three strikes. He flipped the mouse over and quietly walked out of the room.
StaffSaberist
I'm sorry, that's material. Feel sorry for him, though. He fought through hordes of Sith Troops to get killed by yet another bald guy with a saber!
Robb Stark
Ahh, Planescape: Torment = best story of any game ever. By far. Not to mention the coolest final five minutes of any game, movie, or book in the fantasy/sci-fi genre. It leaves a little to be desired in the actual game mechanics for people used to a more complex and visually spectacular combat system, but then combat wasn't really the point of PST anyway, which sets it apart as a gaming experience unlike any other. As for the KOTOR games, if you're a CRPG fan and a Star Wars fan like myself then KOTOR will likely be in your top 10 games ever, though I actually found TSL to be the better game with better action and the more interesting story up until you prepare to leave for the final planet. I jumped into KOTOR just before TSL came out on the recommendation of a friend of a friend in the gaming industry who thought TSL was the best game he had seen. No word on whether he had played all the way through, but whatever. Even with the recommendation I went through a lot of reviews to decide whether KOTOR was a game worth buying. Since nearly everyone who's played has loved it, I dove in and it's been worth every penny I spent on it.
