Some game dev/pub actually gets inspiration from a forum like this. Now that we're all imaginary lets get to work. We've all seen the posts where somebody starts ranting about why kotor should be a twitch based action fest, haven't we? So here's the deal, we have to develop a balanced gameplay system that uses twitch realtime response, and turnbased attacks, and large scale strategy planning, and whatever anyone else needs, It has to work in an mmorpg/team-deathmatch/civybuilder setting (while still being adaptable to solo A.I.) Where multiple players can use their favorite style of play against other players using a different style, for example... We are walking along a mountain path heading to our favorite mining shaft to get those item ingredients when we stumble into a scene straight out of "the Good the Bad and the Ugly" In the center of a cemetary is a base point marker (alowing the owner to build, setup defenses, and produce unique items and effects) Three combatants, each forming the vertices of a triangle around the marker, face off for ultimate pwnage, The first has oversized space marine torso armor, a bandana, and is dual weilding to P90 SMGs, The second almost seems to fade away into the sandy dust blowing up from the ground as she tightens her mask and unsheathes a black katana, The third wearing a turban and loose fitting cloak tightens his grip on a gnarled staff which seems to be glowing more intense by the second... When I used to work in the emergency dept, there was a guy brought in who was involved in an industrial accident. Hey, that reminds me, We should include finishing moves While the main purpose of this project is to produce a new gameplay system with a focus on Player vs Player interaction, we should address other possibilities too... Bullet time: If time were to slow down for one player it would slow down for all players, giving no advantage, so I was thinking of using a program that actually calculates the intensity of a battle and increases or decreases the game speed based on how "juiced up" the soldiers would be from adrenaline and other naturally occuring chemicals.
