Golden Globes : No Nominations

Well, I figured I might post this over here since it is directly related to RotS.

As you can tell by the title, RotS received no nominations for the Golden Globes ceremony next January.

Check out the full list here.

I am a bit disappointed myself. I know that RotS wasn't that well received by the critics, but a big 0 is sad. Let's not forget that there are no Visual Effects and Sound Editing categories at the Golden Globes, and that RotS will probably be nominated for these at the Oscars. That being said, competition will be hard (King Kong), and I fear that the Academy will reward once again PJ's work.

The real thing that bugs me in all this is that I actually hoped that RotS could get something more than Sounds at the Oscars. If it's not even at the Globes, chances of seeing an "important nomination" at the Oscars are slim. In particular, I was thinking about Ian McDiarmid for supporting actor; he really showed his talent in RotS.

Lets not forget the People's Choice awards here. RotS is nominated in the two most important categories, Favourite Movie and Favourite Dramatic Movie. I hope all of you will go vote for it again and again!

But, don't forget the Academy Awards/Oscar Awards. They may have some nominations there. :D

Like I said, chances are that they will only get *nominated* in Visual Effects and Sounds. Competition will be hard, and I doubt they will get anything in the most prestigious categories.

It's a golden globe, it's like getting a country music award, no one with logical thought cares.

Well, the Golden Globes have emerged as the "Junior Oscars" in recent years, so you cannot discount their significance. I never really expected ROTS to be nominated in the "big" categories like :Actor/Actress, Directing, Screenwriting, etc., because that is just not where the strength of ROTS lies. And of course, I'm not saying Sith was a bad movie. I love it. I also think George Lucas is a great filmmmaker.

As far as critics? I haven't listened to them in a long time. Also, King Kong is going to be the one to beat at the Oscars, I think.
