A music game...

It was a joke. :/

I know the people you listen to aren't "multi platinum selling artists."

Well, they could be, but whatever.

People get so defensive online >_>

Yeah, I know it was a joke. I just thought I'd explain, not defend, myself.

I have Kind of Blue and Autumn Leaves, actually. I think most people who actually like music at least have had a listen to Miles Davis. Beethoven is fairly well known, but Vivaldi is obscure to the majority, and that's sad.

Well I knew that there would be exceptions, which is why I chose the word majority instead of all.

Artist: Rush

Album: Moving Pictures

Why: Just emerging from their 'art rock' stage, they were still edgy and full of musical fire and not so AOR yet. This record took the excellent combination of catchy and highly musical songwriting from Permenant Waves and cranked it to 11. Their finest hour. I lost track of them in the mid-80's, but everything I've heard through snippets or radio play sounds like retreads and uninspired stuff.

I'm not really a fan, but they're great. And I agree with what you said about this being their finest hour. What can you say about Rush that hasn't been said? I don't know, so I won't try. I'll just say they'er all bad mother****ers, and the biggest sounding three piece in rock. Peart is a god among drummers. Anyone into digital animation and drums should check out this fan made video for YYZ from the album Mike's mentioned. http://www.neilpeart.net/movies/yyz_vid.html Pretty damn good if you ask me.

Lemme see if I can come up with a list someone might be somewhat familiar with...

Artist: Slipknot

Album: Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)

Why: I actually didn't like these guys when they came out, and I still frown on their earlier material. With this album though, they actually shattered my notion that they were a talentless, rap, nu-metal outfit. The guitarists can actually shred! The drums sound great on this record. The things that guy does at the end of Three Nil made my jaw hit the floor the first time I heard it.

Artist: Johnny Cash

Album: Unchained

Why: Because Johnny Cash is a bad mother****er. That's why. There will never be another like the original Man in Black. Unchained is the second album recorded on Rick Rubin's label, and of the four he released, I think it's the strongest. High points are The One Rose, Rowboat-a Beck cover, Spritual, and a great Tom Petty cover of Southern Accents. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are the studio band behind Cash, and they do a great job.

Artist: Pantera

Album: Official Live 101 Proof

Why: This album is the closest thing alot of new fans of the late, great Dimebag Darrell (RIP) will ever get to hearing the awesome power of a Pantera concert, and it covers most of their material released in the 90's. A good place to start if you're just getting into them, and a fine live album if you're already a fan.
