Why the lack of ships?

This might have already been covered so sorry if it has but i just wanted to know why the lack of ships particually for the Rebels. I mean theres more than one type of Mon Cal cruiser, we only get the Winged Mk2 version wheres the MC80?

Also why arn't the Bothan Assault Cruiser and other newer varients included or do you think they might come in an expansion?

one thinks for sure, the Rebels are at a big disadvantage with one one heavy cruiser.

Time frame iswhy the lack of ships. NJO era Bothan Assault cruisers etc are way outside the time frame of Empire at War. EAW is Post Episode 3 through Episode 4. The Exspansion will likely add Episodes 5 and 6 and they could then do an EU Exspansion

Thats a bummer. I seriously hope you can capture ships so you can fill you empty ranks with ISD and Vics and Venators etc.

It´s because the Game has been set in a timeline between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A new Hope"...

The Rebellion is only at the beginning of their War, so they didn´t had many Capital Class ships.

And a disadvantage(meaning less Quantity than Imps) on Capital ships is not a disadvatage on the Battlefield.

 

The dev´s will get the game Balanced.

 

And dont forget, not everything has revealed, yet.

Actually the Rebellion shouldn't even have the Mon Cal Cruisers as buildable units as the Mon Cal didn't start retrofitting their ships until the end of ANH... maybe a bit before, but not by much.

Yeah Teradyn your probable right coz we don't see any capital ships till ROTJ but i agree with Nuke we haven't seen everything yet but if he's right about the game being kinda balanced then the Rebel will probable start with Mon Cals

Yeah, that is one of the big debates we had when we found out about the Executor not being in. It was actually in construction way before the battle of Yavin, yet it is not in the game.

Maybe in the expansion, they forget the ugly Empire era and go with the cool Clone Wars ships and units. ^_^

Actually, I believe it was said by a developer than if an expansion would come out ever, it would not have anything to do with the clone wars and probably be based on ESB-RotJ. So the clone wars ships will probably never see EaW unless they are modded in.

Yeah Delphi-PG said that the Clone Wars dont fit in with the EaW timeline at all. So any expansion would most likely be ESB-RotJ like moeller said.

Nothing is confirmed about an EaW 2. It is highly doubtful there will be an EaW 2. Petro has plans with Sega and will probably move onto that after EaW. I could see them making a ESB-RoTJ expansion though, because expansions are generally much easier to make than a new game entirely.

The rebels will probably not need a great number of ships, because as before mentioned what the rebels lack in number, they make up with effectiveness, and concise preparation. If used correctly, and if this game is indeed balanced, the rebels low number of different ships will mean nothing...
