Soltaris
How did Yoda get old so fast? He lives to be over 900 years old according to what he said in Ep V. That makes him over 90 years old in human terms. And luke was what, about 26 in Ep V? So the span in time between Ep III and Ep V isn't that great. So if Yoda was the equivelent of a 90 year old in EP V he had to be the equivelent of an 88 year old in Ep III. That's only a difference of 2 years! So how did his health fail so quickly in such a small portion of his lifespan? Did he catch an exotic flue or something?
T10
I think it was the stress of falling 100ft. Damage doesn't really seem to get repaired as well in old people, and this is sort of conveyed here. He clearly never fully recovers from that fall. Darth_Terros
He got space aids from a Twi'lek slave girl which completely destroyed his immune system making him frail and weak of course he was kind fo embarresed by this so he doesnt mention anything to luke or obi wan. That's realy random.... But anyway I thought Luke was more along the lines of 21 in Episode V?
The Doctor
^That's more correct than 26, I think. I know that Luke was 19 in ANH....

Forget all that 90, 88 bulls**t, he was about 900 years old in Episode VI (not V) and about 870 years old in Episode III, he was old and frail in Episode I. He's probably appeared old for hundreds of years, not dying because of his strong force connection, the same way that Anakin didn't die in Episode III. You have to remember that the last 25 years of his life was in very different circumstances to the rest of his life. The place where he lived on Dagobah was rich in the Dark Side, he probably couldn't have maintained such a strong connection as he could in the temple. Darth_Extas
Actually It was probably due to the lack of resources on Dagobah. Lack of Food, Water. I wonder how he managed to create that hut he made. As well Yoda actually landed on Dagobah, I am sure but I do think I remeber Yoda fighting a sith on Dagobah(referencing in EU). But that is debatable info. Since we don't know what species yoda is, we don't know if it is a standard to live over 800 years. The only other (thing) that was like yoda was Yaddle who made an apperence I believe in Episode II.

Without as strong a tie to the force his metabolism could have been affected greatly. As supporting evidence, I don't think he was strong enough in the force in the Ep V - Ep VI era to pull off agility lightsaber moves like he could do previously. SirLancelot
Let's not forget that Dagobah had powerful dark side force energy. This undoubtedly contributed to his rapid deterioration.

SirLancelot
Yes, but I was more succinct.
