Poor Bastard
http://www.accessatlanta.com/partners/ajc/newsatlanta/0523demolition.html 15-year-old's wild ride leaves seven cars damaged in Decatur parking lot Even parked cars aren't safe in metro Atlanta. A 15-year-old girl turned a Decatur parking lot into what looked like a demolition derby Tuesday after she got behind the wheel of her mother's car. The girl's mother had dashed inside the Maloof Administrative Center in Decatur to pay a water bill and left the keys in the ignition. Tempted by the dangling keys, Alexandria Moore said she wanted to move the car into a different parking space. Having never driven, the Lithonia ninth-grader revved the engine and jammed the Chevy Lumina into gear. The car jumped a concrete curb, sideswiped a vehicle and slammed into Assistant Finance Director Joel Gottlieb's 1995 Lexus, which careened into another car. Alexandria then put the Lumina in reverse, scraped a concrete pole and backed into a Nissan Pathfinder, which hit another car. By the time it was over, seven cars were damaged. The Lexus and Lumina had to be towed away. Alexandria's mother, Betty Moore, said she was glad no one was hurt. "It's so unfortunate," said Moore, a retired custodian for DeKalb County schools. "It was just something that happened, just something crazy." Decatur police Sgt. M. Matics, who investigated the accident, charged Alexandria with reckless driving. Matics said he didn't know how fast the Lumina traveled. "She was moving at a pretty good clip to cause a parked car to go into another car," Matics said. Four hours later, a "still shaking" Alexandria said, "I probably won't get into another car for the rest of my life." edlib
I did something very similar in my uncle's car once. He left it running and got out for a minute, so thinking I knew what I was doing, I got behind the wheel, put it in gear, and drove it straight into the garage door. I was three. Taarkin
Same thing almost happened to me once. My mom parked the car in the driveway and ran in to get something. It was really hot and I wanted the A/C on, so I turned the keys she left in the ignition(I was in the passenger seat the whole time). What I DIDN'T know was that she left it in 1st gear, causing the car to jump foreward. By pure luck I yanked the keys out of the ignition with the bumper inches away from the garage door. ------------------ Was I supposed to eat the heads too? 'Cause I took nooo prisioners!
