Orao
Hi ppl, Thx to the last patch I've just got my first game in MP. I was all excited but then I found something which bothers me alot. It was the space map and the goal was destruction of the station. I was Empire and I had a huge surprise withe super weapons. I used it on rebel station and I even hardly damaged it. Then the rebel player used its Ion cannon on my station. My station was completly disabled not being able to fire at all and the player was just sending ways after ways of Nebulon-B plus Frigats Mk 2. I was so upset watching my beatifull level 3 station being raped without even having ability to awnser. Now I have nothing against super weapons but I would rather like to see them restricted to ships only. What do you think about ?
MistenTH
Yea it sucks. Ion cannon does 45000 shield damage and 90 seconds of stun duration. L5 Space Station has 9000 shield.

What do you think about ? well now u know to save it for the ships .just dont worry about it,ion will go away when ur upgrading and it reaches 100%.if its a lvl 5, then u'll still have a good chance of winning, use more of hyper and ISD or VSD. popcorn2008
The superweapons are incredibly unbalanced, I will agree on that. The Ion Cannon is far more devestating than the hypervelocity cannon. The hypervelocity gun should be able to badly damage mon cals and it should at least take out 2-3 space station hardpoints. Espicially if an Ion cannon can take off the whole shields on a space station.
Darth Alec
Never played with superweapons on in skirmish, but if it's anything like GC, then it is insanely unbalanced.

Although the ion only temporarily damages a hardpoint while the hyper cannon (IF, and that's a big IF) can permanently destroy it. I'd say that they're both rather unbalanced, though they DO fit canon.
DedTheros
I don't find either of them to be that overpowered. You gotta realize though atm the way this game is, if you can even spare the credits to get a SW your pretty much going to win the game anyway. But even then and i really haven't had many battles in which we both got to tier 3 at the same time i still feel they aren't that overpowered. Only issue i really have is the fact that the ion cannon can't miss. I've said it before, i love the hypervelocity gun. It generally can take out 2 - 3 hardpoints out with a direct hit on a frigate. And if those hardpoints are damaged it can take out even more if not destroy the ship. That can be enough to turn the tide or help fend off an attack and such. You of course have to be very careful in how you use it, because i've had a frigate just turn standing still and the shot completly missed. I would have to agree about restricting them to be used on ships though.
Orao
I have no problem with SW dammage as it is now. However what I would like to see is the restriction of use on ships only. Bloody Ion cannon stunts your space station for 90 seconds. And level 4 space station gets owned by few Mk2 frigates. There is no fun in the game at that level. Usual strategy is this : 1. Rush for mining station 2. Make your rebel station level 3 3. Buy Mk2 frigates 4. Send in fighters near ennemy space station 5. Fire inon cannon and hyperspace in Mk2 frigates Since disabled station has 0 shieleds left well hardpoints are going out pretty quick. Moreover attacked station can't even fire back. DedTheros
I totally agree. Only use a hyper has on a station is if your down to like 3 hardpoints that are yellow to red and you don't feel like letting your ships finish it off. But again like i said before the way things are now if you have the cash to make a SW it normally means your going to win anyway otherwise it's a waste of 2.8k cash that could be used on some other ship. Edit: on a side note, not many people know this but you CAN repair your station if you upgrade it. So like you said before if you can somehow fend those MKII's and be able to upgrade as soon as possible or have upgraded during the attack just click on the base and the hardpoints that are repairable will be gray, just click on them and they will start to repair. It does suck cash as it repairs though. Though i guess it wouldn't matter much with that long ass timer
