Wierd conversation glitch

Occaisionally I'll run into an annoying bug where all the dialog in a conversation will just blaze past in the blink of an eye, up until it's time to select a response. Then the next few lines will blaze past unreadably fast till the next response. It's like the mouse got stuck clicking past the NPC dialog. Needless to say this renders some parts of the game unplayable. I need to quit to the desktop when this happens. I have no idea what makes it happen, it seems random, and when I had KOTOR on another computer this didn't happen, so I'm confused. Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

I just had an idea. I checked the launcher configuration and I had "Enable Hardware Mouse" checked. I turned it off and I'll keep an eye out for it happening any more. It may be that this fixes it. Then again, it may not. We'll see.

Edit: And while that may fix the problem, I'm not going to wait to find out. It doesn't point where it's supposed to and get stuck in wierd places. Back to hardware we go.

I have this same issue, and what I've noticed is all the buttons flash unusually fast as well. Like in the equip screen, whatever is "highlighted" will be flashing really fast. Same on all menus. Also when that happens, any computer interfacing is extremely lagged. I can't figure out anything that causes this as it's done it right when the game starts and after I've been playing for a while. It's totally random and doesn't do it everytime I play.

The other problem I've been having, just started today, is crashing. The game will randomly just freeze up (no errors) and I will have to ctrl-alt-del it and restart it. The freezes are random too, no one thing sets it off. I save often but it's frustrating. My computer by far exceeds the minimum and even recommended specs and the graphics card drivers are up to date. I think this game is just really buggy and perhaps they should release another patch for it. My system can handle the max graphics options easily on every game but this one.

If someone wants to give me an example of where this happens I'll take a look at the dialog files, it could be something that's wrong with them. Syntax errors, numerical, and grammatical mistakes in the game have been found so there's no reason the errors in the game wouldn't extend to errors in the files themselves :(

I agree. Unless it was addressed in the single game patch released by LA/OE, I'm thinking that it won't be fixed though.

FWIW, dialog problems incurred only after playing for extended periods of time that are resolved by restarting the game lead me to suspect it's probably something related to caching. Not sure we'll be able to address that one on our own, but who knows.
