Action based rpg is definitly not Kotor or a Kotor like game for that matter.

 

An action rpg would be Diablo for instance, which heavily relies on real time combat (diablo is extremely boring).

I agree, KOTOR is definately not an action RPG. Good modern examples of an action RPG are game like TESIV:Oblivion or VTM:Bloodlines or Jade Empire where the combat is real time and not turned based. Bioware did a great job of disguising the fact that KOTOR was turned based, but under the hood it is still the dungeon & dragons rule system running the game. Or D20 anyway.

Diablo was brilliant in its time, but yah, by today's standards it is very boring.

And as far as the console part, K1 and K2 where console games. They where just converted to the PC. Isn't that why they came out on PC about a month later?

 

Uncle Billy Gates paid LucasArts to have the games first on the Xbox system.
