Okay.

 

In my recent rant about the current mind-numbing state of reality tv, I moaned about how I hated the guitar player from Jane's Addiction, the bassist from Metallica and the drummer from Motley Crue becoming moronic reality tv fodder. I just found out that one-time Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke is also in the band, but I don't really give a sh!t about him. He already sucked.

 

In my alcohol-induced fog, I read the responses to my diatribe, and while most of you are right there with me on tv and "reality" tv generally sucking, one thing I didn't detect was any even remote idea of knowing who any of these bands were. Jane's Addiction? Wasn't that a PBS special last wednesday? Metallica? I think I remember that from my tenth grade geology lesson...

 

So, my question is this. Am I the only lonely headbanger around here? I remember Capn Collostomy got cranky when I insulted Death Metal, so I know there's at least one more hardcore music fan around. Is he the only one? Capn? What bands are you into?

 

Are there any other musicians out there? I played in the Vancouver grunge/metal band scene through most of the 90's, and does anyone out there even recognize the bands I mentioned in my post? Okay, you've heard of Metallica and Motley Crue unless you've been living under a rock since 1983, but does Jane's Addiction ring any bells at all?

I love both Metallica and Guns 'n' Roses, and also Motley Crue, to a lesser degree. And I'm also learning to play the bass guitar, though I'm not great. I still have a bit of trouble sight-reading sheet music, but I'm making progress. You're not alone, Mace.

I'd think by skimming the what are you listening to thread, you'd be able to answer your own question.

 

Anyways, myself I'm more into punk rock -not that fake ass pop chart **** kids listen to today-, a few classic rock bands -pretty much just the Doors-, a bit of Vai & Satch,....... mmm pretty much anything with energy & agression.

 

I use'd to be in a couple bands, but **** came up & I had to bail on them for a while.
