Delta-1207
When I retexture a .tga file I use GIMP. It actually works very well. I´ve read the retexturing tutorials. Even though they were made with Photoshop in mind, they were of some help. My only problem would be the Alpha Channels and the .txi. Now then I`ve been playing around with the N_Selkath01 file for some time. My goal is to give the Selkath boots with a metal effect. But I can´t, since GIMP doesn´t seem to have the same channels as Photoshop. When I select Dialogs--->Channels, I get Red, Green, and Blue and that´s it. Or perhaps I am missing something? I already have a N_Selkath01.txi file with the envmaptexture CM_Baremetal. I would really like some help from the more experienced retexturers out there. Mav
I don't know how GIMP works, but in Photoshop, when you go to channels, only red, green, and blue show up. So in Photoshop you click the little create button to create a new "alpha channel" I'd assume that it is the same with GIMP, not sure though. Kainzorus Prime
In gimp, you go to Layers - Transparency - Add alpha channel. After that you go to Dialogs - Channels.
Darkkender
After adding the alpha channel as Don mentioned above simply select the areas that you want to make transparent and delete the portions there. You can also go to the layers -> Transparency -> Colorize alpha this will give you the chance to threshold the area and change the base color for the boots. In the case of the Selkath file, I would just have to select the areas that belong to the boots, delete them, and then recolor them?

Delta-1207
Thanks for the help; the effect looks pretty good. There´s something interesting, though. When I placed the .txi file on the Override, the other Selkath had this shiny effect on their heads, feet, and hands that looked, in my opinion far better than the other shiny texture.
