razorace
Good News: I'm back at school. Bad News: I only have one ethernet port in my new room. I'm going to have to get a router or something before I can host the code server full-time on my backup system. Any suggestions?
JRHockney*
I have two bad suggestions!: 1. Use your campus wifi if it has it....which it probably doesnt by your dorms. 2. Every night, break into a CS computer room and set up the code server on there. Then turn off the monitor off and put a sign on it that says: "under repair do not touch!" when your not in the room. Great idea huh!?
Vruki Salet
Get a friend there to host it on their state-of-the-art super duper computer that they just use to browse the web, listen to music and write papers on MS Word. They'll never notice it running in the background especially if you hide the console window. Or get a friend there who runs linux or freebsd to run it for you on their computer. They'll be happy to since then they can show off how many things they can run on their efficient system without bogging it down. Whadya think? Sushi_CW
Besides the other good suggestions, tou could also check to see if your school does any sort of computer surplus sale. If so, you might be able to pick up a small router or switch for cheap. Ebay might have some good deals too.
