Emperor Devon
The title says it all. Who's read it the latest installment in Frank Herbert's wonderful series series, and what did you think? I thought it was wonderful book. Very good descriptions of the violent scenes, but unfortunately not as philisophical as the original books. The buildup for the Enemy was almost unbearable, and then it was revealed... Omnius as the Enemy? Such a reclycling of supposedly long-dead characters! Unbelievable! The Enemy had sounded so mysterious at the end of Chapterhouse, and this book made them seem all the moreso with the no-ship wandering through space and reaching those planets. Then when Murbella delved into Other Memory to find why the Honored Matres fled... I was dying to know of them... But Omnius? The thinking machines as the Enemy? It was a completely unexpected plot twist, but it was an awful one! Khrone and the old man and woman made the Enemy sound so absolutely wonderful, but they're not even biological! And now the wonderful Kralizek will be nothing better than a repeat battle from the Battle of Corrin! Well, enough of my rants, what are all your opinions? Hallucination
I'm not much of a fan of Brian Herbert's work with his father's series, but I guess I'll read this some time.
