Negative Sun
I must be getting old, I remember I used to play a Star Wars game on my very old school computer back in the 90's, it was running on Win95, and you got to play as Luke and Leia (I think), basically, you got to hide behind stuff, pop out, shoot some stormtroopers, etc... You also got to ride a speeder bike in one level, and fly the Millenium Falcon through another level... What the hell is it called? I tried looking for it, but since I can't remember the name it's not easy lol, can anyone help me with that? On a totally different note: I was wondering, how long does Luke's initial training with Yoda last on Dagobah? Are we talking days, weeks, months? And how long does it take Han and the others to get from Hoth to the asteroid field to wherever they are (The xxx system, there's not much there, can't remember the bloody name, my inner voice says "Anoath" or something) and finally to Bespin? Again are we talking days, weeks or months? This has always kind of puzzled me, so I hope someone can help...
stoffe
I was wondering, how long does Luke's initial training with Yoda last on Dagobah? Are we talking days, weeks, months? I don't know the "official" timeline, but from what you see in the movies, if you match it against what the Millennium Falcon crew was up to, it could at most have been a few days, unless the trip from escaping the Imperial fleet to arriving at Bespin was particularily long and uneventful (which I suppose is possible since they only had their sub-light engines and no hyperdrive for travel). It always struck me as Luke getting a crash course with the bare basics of the Force from Yoda before he ran away to help his friends. Vader must either have been toying with him for the entire fight, or have become rusty indeed during the years he's not had to face off against another force user. I must be getting old, I remember I used to play a Star Wars game on my very old school computer back in the 90's, it was running on Win95, and ... My school had those green screen terminals with only one central computer running them all (no Windows or even DOS at all), where the most exciting thing you could do was play Defender. Now I feel even older. Don't think I know what game you mean, sorry.
HerbieZ
I never thought about it before. I always guessed it was a few hours, no wonder lukes training was short...
milo
I always thought Luke's training lasted a week or two. I dunno though.
Mav
don't know about the luke training thing, though my instincts tell me to agree with stoffe, but as far as your game, the way you describe it, it sounds like you are talking about the Rebel Assault (I/II) series, the only kicker is that you don't play as Luke or Leia in those games, but there is both a male and female character in the two different games, or portions of them. I don't remember exactly, but I have the games and they are fun as heck, though I haven't played them in ages, never could get them to run on XP. I specifically remember the second one, which sounds similar to what you are describing. There are levels when you hide behind walls and can pop out and shoot stormies in a semi 3rd person type thing. There is a level where you ride a speeder bike through a swampy Dagobah type level and shoot at other speeders and at pesky mynocks. There is a level where you fly the Millenium Falcon out of some sort of base where you have to dodge pipes and such. I believe the first level has you flying a B-wing and later on you are flying a X-wing. The overall plot of the second one is you start out flying your B-wing and after taking care of a few TIEs you in turn are shot down and have to eject to a planet below, you fend off and escape from the Imperial Base, and find out that the Empire has cloaked TIEs and a cloaked spacestation. So you go to the swampy level and ride your speeder bike and meet this rebel commando lady (possibly whom you confused to be Leia). You and the commando lady in turn steal one of the Empires cloaked TIEs and use it to blow up their cloaked spacestation. The game ends with the two of you at some Rebel base being awarded medals, very "A New Hope" style. If any of this rings a bell, the game you're looking for is Rebel Assault II. Hope I helped, or at least turned some of you on to a totally kick ass game. In return I'd like for someone to tell me how to get it to run on Windows XP Mav
Negative Sun
I know, maybe you can run it in Win95/98 compatibility mode? This is how it looks like: Because I have a windows skin, yours will obviously look different, I had to do this for a Win95 game called Broken Sword, just right-click on the icon for the game and select "Properties", and it's the third tab... And it is indeed Rebel Assault, thanks, I might download a demo of it out of nostalgia, because the game will be back in Belgium so I can't get it right now lol On a totally different note, while watching A New Hope last night, I noticed that at some point Luke says: "If the Empire has traced the robots here it'll lead them back...home!" Now is "robots" an official synonym for "droids" in the SW universe, or is this a simple mistake? Because I don't think I've ever heard it in any of the other movies (or the EU), but I could be wrong...
