I assume you mean "animated GIFs" as opposed to just regular GIF files, since GIFs can only store up to 256 colors, while JPEGs can store millions of colors (and usually has a better compression rate, to boot).

 

Like Kingzjester said, there are plenty of places to look for such things, like CNet's Download center, or ZDNet's SoftSeek.

 

I personally use Paint Shop Pro's "Animation Shop" for animated GIFs, but there are plenty of others that you can use... I think Micro$oft has a free GIF Animator program, too...

you can download trial versions of programmes for a 30day period, my media teacher said that's what I had to do last year for my media assignment, so try stuff like www.macromedia and www.adobe.com coz they have some fantastic stuff you can use, but once the 30day period is over, well obviously the programme wont work anymore and your email will only work once for whatever you're gonna download so if you were gonna download fireworks from macromedia, say your email is ismell@home.com well you can only use the email ismell@home.com once for dowloading fireworks
