ATI Radeon 9250 Graphics Card Driver update problem.

Well, when I first purchased KOTOR2 for my P.C. after playing it on my X-box, I purchased the previous mentioned graphics card to go along with it. With the help of Dell Technical Support i finally got it up and running. When I scanned my hardware under the configure option i'm pretty positive all my game requirements were met except for my grpahics card which had a yellow circle next to it.

Now, all seemed fair and good the next 2 playthroughs but now it is telling me that my graphics card doesn't meet the game requirements and the driver is out of date. The game gave me a link to a driver update website for ATI which I followed. My Dell is a Dimension 3000 so I clicked under the Windows XP option and then on Professional/Home option (Which I believed is the correct option i should of clicked on, but if it wasn't that may of been the root of my problems).

After then clicking on Radeon and 9250 it sent me to a page for a Catalyst® 6.11 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition

I downloaded a "Catalyst software suite" which included a display driver, Catalyst control center and wdm drivers.

Now after downloading it I began to install it until i came to a screen that said The minimum .Net framework version is 2.0. Now I believe that it meant I had to download a 2.0 driver first. But under the previous driver screen it only went down to a previous 6. driver. (Which i believe i installed correctly, but it still did not work when I tried downloading the 6.11 driver.)

..Now to finish this long request, does anybody have any ideas as to what my problem is and how i should fix it?

It is referring you to microsoft .NET framework 2.0 drivers. They can be found on microsofts website, Dells Website and ATI's website. I hate to say it but im going to wish you "good luck" getting the game to work with an ATI card. I have recently gone through a nightmare scenario with ATI and it caused me to order a brand new nvidia based card. Hopefully it arrives soon lol.

Thanks for the support = )...I installed the .NET framework driver ok, but my problems came when I then tried to install the Catalyst® 6.11 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition Driver update.

Perhaps the problem was that I already attempted to install it, but when I tried to install it it stalled right in between loading something...It said to wait several minutes, but the "green bars" did not move one inch from where it previously got two after me waiting 15 minutes. I then cancelled the installation and restarted my comp.

I then went to check KOTOR 2 if it would now say that all the requirements have been met, but they still weren't. I tried installing the update driver again and it suddenly closed down halfway between the point I previously came to. I tired installing it again and the same thing happaned.

Perhaps I need to delete ,whatever may of installed from the driver update and attempt to install it yet again...

..Or perhaps there is something else i could do/try?

Sorry for the double post (If a Moderator could delete this post and move the info to my previous post)..

But i'd like to mention that my game runs pretty smoothly(except at a point in the Korriban "Facing the past" tomb) and the graphics seem pretty exceptional to me.

Yet I still believe that my graphics card is out of date and needs the previous mentioned update driver.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your game is running fine with an ATI card, I wouldn't touch the driver configuration or update them.

What he said!! I know the game worked with some of the older ATI cards and drivers (albeit glitchy). With the new ATI cards and drivers you might as well forget it. I caved in and bought a BFG 7950 GTOC 512 meg card and it totally rocks!!! This card is amazing and compatible with everything. I will never buy another ATI again.

Unfortunatly I did not read your posts before finding out how to update my driver...

..Yet, the website had a step by step instructions page that proved incredibly helpfull...What I did not do before was remove the current ATI Driver software from my computer (Not the Card itself from inside) and then update with the new driver.

Also unfortunate is the game still shows my Card as out of date, but I think i'm going to let it be and hope I dont run into anymore problems.

..Thanks for everybody's help = )
