Does he really need a reason? if he thinks it's crap he thinks it's crap, I don't fink I've seen it so I can't comment ------------------ Natty- I might be cute, but I'm also part of the crusade against Oil Filters... raVen_image
Although, giving a few reasons WHY can help a web-builder improve their site. If Storken has gone to the trouble to dis faith's site (I don't remember reading that one, though) I think it's fair to give some reasons. Faith: These critisisms should not be scorned. Everyone learns from the opinions of others and you can use them to produce a great site. Catoring to the needs of the public is a chaffing point for any artist. But if the intent of your site is to be seen, and appreciated, then take all critisisms and use them to your advantage [This message has been edited by raVen_image (edited July 06, 2001).]
Thrik
Yup, critism alone is useless, constructive critism is the kind that is worth posting. I remember a 9 year old made a site, he thought it was really good, and I thought it was a real bad design. So I spent 10 minutes writing a long list of ways to improve it and keep it looking good, and it helped about 8 other people. Goes to show actually helping someone can help loads, and put them in your debt
storken
I don't hate it! but you think it's soooooo good, and it ain't that special. ------------------ "the storks are listening"
Natty
I think what Storky is trying to say is that it's not a bad attempt it could do with improvement, but the way you carry on with it, you make it sound like it's this big huge professional site and it's not... ------------------ Natty- Part Of The Forums Against Oil Filters
raVen_image
OK Faith...I took a 10 minute tour of your site and my thoughts? Well, it's not at all bad. The information is not new to someone who has toured alot of Monkey Island sites, but it's good information. It's varied, and highlights good points about the first two games (like a "reader's digest" version of all the information out there) If I began touring MI sites with your site...I would have been happy browsing for days...and that is the highest honor I bestow for beginner sites. So many sites are just devoted to their designers(like waving a flag "look at me, look at me") ...yours is devoted to something outside yourself. -and in it's creation, you end up revealing yourself. Overall I think your site is fine. My critisisms: (only artistic, so maybe you should ignore them, because they only reveal me) I liked the colors, but mabye too VIVID against a black background. Try toning down the blue to a more navy-blue The opening page: I almost missed the monkey-dancing animation, because I clicked "enter now" when it popped up. Perhaps if the animation came after the intro words...but BEFORE the words "enter now"...it's up to you One page...I'm sorry, I forget which one, had a horizontal pinstripe patterned background...UUUUGGGHH maybe my eyes are getting feeble, but I somehow had trouble focusing on(or even, remembering) that page. Like I said, these are artistic, only. Take them or leave them. On a fonder note siiiighhhh...hearing the "Pirates of the Carribean" Theme was a shot of herion to this DisneyLand Junkie. It was only MIDI ...but I found myself singing the words to the song, just like when I go on the ride...thanx sooo much for that blast of naustalgia. Faith: Your site is fine ...maybe your pestered people with looking at it, I don't know. Like the philosophy that governs the clues and hints" forum: The joy is in the discovery...let people find it themselves ...but like any GOOD advertiser, HINT them towards your site. Someone posted some days ago about wanting the MIDIs from the first game. You might have provided a link to your site for him. We all would have seen it, and gone on our own out of curiosity We the people are sheep...we need to be lead...but gently. If we SEE the yoke, we will fight it ...but dangle a carrot ...
