Out of the two games I own. I recommend both of them. Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas. Gears of War has amazing gameplay, even though the campaign is rather short, but it's worth it. Rainbow Six: Vegas is also a great game. The campaign is a fair length and it's neat to be able to play in a few casinos as well as playing at the Hoover Dam. Though, I can't comment about online since I don't have Xbox Live yet. >_>;

Games I recommend that are coming out soon, that look fairly promising.

  • Mass Effect
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Halo 3
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed ;)
    ------------
  • NHL 2008
  • Madden NFL 2008
  • The Bigs

The ones below the dotted line are the ones I intend to buy since they are sports-based games.

Definitely get Rainbow Six Vegas. The SP is awesome and the MP is worth the buy alone. You do get Dirty Disc errors but only after playing for a long while and even then it's not that annoying considering other games get it while you play Online for long period of times too.

Gears of War is also a must of have just cause of how fun it is to play and the sweet graphics. The MP is fun but the only drawback that I think it has is that you can only have 4 on 4 matches and I prefer to play with more people to make it more fun.

GRAW 2 is also a sweet game with a solid SP and MP. These three games are must haves if you have LIVE in my opinion.

Crackdown is a fun game but after you beat it it pretty much lost it's appeal to me. I'd say rent if you get the chance or if you have Gamefly, keep it for a month and half and then send it back. Most people only kept it so they could get into the Halo 3 Beta so I'm sure you can get it cheaply on Ebay, EB, or Gamestop.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent was a fun game and I enjoyed it alot. I thought it was easier than the previous ones but it was still fun and worth the buy. If you liked the MP from Chaos Theory then you'll like the MP in Double Agent.

Hitman: Blood Money is also a good stealth based game and I enjoyed the customization and how you could slip into disguises compared to the Splinter Cell series.

If you like racing forget Project Gotham and go directly to Forza Motorsport 2. It's currently what all my friends are addicted too and it's the best realistic racing game out there if you liked Grand Turismo. Personally I prefer Need for Speed: Carbon since it's more arcade like and just more fun to me personally. Especially since you get to pick if you want to start out with Exotics, Tuners, or Muscle cars and the story.

Guitar Hero II is also must have especially with the downloadable content that the other consoles don't have so you can buy song's from the previous Guitar Hero or exclusive's.

As for games that haven't been released yet I would suggest:

Halo 3

Assassin's Creed

Splinter Cell: ConViction

Ace Combat

Army of Two

Tom Clancy's End War

Need for Speed ProStreet

Grand Theft Auto IV

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Battlefield: Bad Company

I personally thought that Splinter Cell: Double Agent was the biggest disappointment in gaming in my life. The levels are few and boring. The detection system went from a tight-rope act to a fight to stay on a side-walk. The daytime missions are horrible because they make you resort to gun fights like a total noob. The element of stealth is almost completely gone and the game isn't designed for these kinds of firefights. It's like taking Metal Gear Solid 2 and removing all the hiding places, the box, and the hold-ups.

I was never a fan of the multiplayer so single player is all I got- and it felt like a total waste. And this is coming from a guy who's favorite game of all time was Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory- I was doing speed-runs and challenging myself to go through every level without any evidence (as in no kills, no knock-outs, no intruder reports) Hell, I thought it was a failure if I even heard the alarm. Real shame for me about the game, though.

Or you can get the Xbox Elite, which is more money since you do get 100 GB more memory, HDMI cable, and your controller and system is black.

I just got The Bigs, like you'll notice in "Very Good Things" thread. It's a fun game if you want to move away from the simulation-type game and want to have some fun in the free arcade play.
