Some of the new features and fixes, described in full in this thread (must be a registered member of the XWA Upgrade forums to view), include the official inclusion of the Valiant-class Republic Cruiser, as well as additional radio messages. Speaking of the Valiant-class cruiser, that has also been updated. The ship is now able to use its warhead batteries, thanks to a fix by OOM-911.
