Benny
Woo VOX files are used in all Telltale games and contain the speech and sound effects. What seemed like a simple project actually turned out to be quite complicated. Its taken me a quite a while to get these files to decode correctly and I've had to use some nasty hacks in places. I'm pretty sure that I've got the decoding right now, but I'd like some people to test it and see if the audio sounds ok. I specifically want to make sure that there are no 'clicks' or 'pops' and that sections of speech aren't missing (ie sounding like a word or part of a word has been cropped out). Download it here. This program is essentially proof of concept. Once I'm sure that the decoding works correctly I'll re-work the program to make it more useful - I'm planning to have Scumm Revisited style annotations so that you can see what each file contains and to allow descriptive file names (ie not 245154.vox). diduz
Great tool! Two questions: 1) Why does the tool output the files in 8Khz? Isn't the quality too low? 2) Would it be possible to re-implement the files into the game? I'll keep searching for cut lines, but everything seems complete so far. Thanks for your work, bg! Benny
Thanks for testing (and thanks to those who emailed me). 1) Because that's just the way some of the files are. No downsampling/upsampling is done. Some files are 8000hz, some 11025 and a few 16000. 2) Its theoretically possible but I'm not planning to do it.
