Jae Onasi Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Well, our asters bloomed, and we have been blessed with some very cool bees and butterflies. I was able to get some photos today and they turned out better than I expected--yay for a 7.1 megapixel camera. The photos here are taken with a Fuji Finepix S700 on macro mode. I counted 4 different kinds of bees--bumblebees, honeybees (I think), some sweat bees (I think--they had metallic green heads), and another one I couldn't identify (very small with bright yellow stripes--could be a small wasp). I also had 4 different species of butterflies--Monarchs, Red Admirals, Fiery Skippers, and Cabbage Whites. I'm not a butterfly expert, so if I'm off on the names, forgive me. Here's the Cabbage White butterfly and a Honeybee: Here's a Bumblebee with pollen sacs on its back legs. Here's a Fiery Skipper: A closer view of a Cabbage White: Here's a Red Admiral. It has a torn wing. One of my favorites--a Monarch.
HerbieZ Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Im not sure if it's the zoom but if i ever see a Fiery Skipper in this country, il move to France.
Jae Onasi Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Heh, that butterfly is only about an inch or so long and is a lovely shade of gold.
