I actually have a good reason for it not being up yet, see I have finished recording the game but it is on a VHS tape and I need to transfer it to DVD with my DVD/VCR dubber but it is having problems(every time I try to dub it the stupid machine says cannot record on this disc, but I've made certain it is the right kind of disc, DVD-R) so apparantly I'll need a new one to finish it until then we can all talk more about it at this forum thread: http://z11.invisionfree.com/KOTOR_Movies/index.php?showforum=17

I'm there more often

Uuummmm sorry I'm not really sure how. I tried it once and my computer didn't work too well. I think maybe if you go into the My Computer folder and right click on the DVD disk. It should say Explore or something like that on it. I think you can use that, or just by clicking on Copy, to transfer the file to your computer.

Not too sure if it will work or not, but that's all I can think of.

The .VOB files on a DVD are already in MPEG format, but they are MPEG video and audio muxed together. The simplest solution for you would probably to use a program like DVD Decrypter to demux it for you into the mpeg2 video .m2v file and the audio file(a .wav pcm or .ac3 most likely).

Otherwise, many non linear editors will support the .VOB container format if you just want to edit it.

Windows Media Player is a player only. It can probably play .vob files if you have an mpeg2 codec installed, but if you want to convert the .vob into something else (an .avi or an .mpeg) you will need some program to do it.

There might be some 1 click applications that will work for you, something like Auto GordianKnot which is meant to convert a dvd movie into an xvid or divx file, but these don't leave you with much control. My in depth suggestion would be to use DGIndex to demux the video and audio from the .VOB file and then use VirtualDubMod to recompress it into whatever you wanted.

If you can explain what kind of file you want to end up with, I might be able to suggest a better alternative or how to use the programs I mentioned.

Instead of transferring from VHS to DVD and lose some more quality, I suggest buying a video digitizer card such as the Hauppauge! WinTV-HVR and connecting some cables from the A/V out jacks on your VCR into that card. I don't have the newer model yet, but I think it uses RCA for the video and the mini-jack for the audio.

If you must rip from a DVD, then use a program like DVD Ripper, Nero Recode, AnyDVD, Intervideo DVD Copy, DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. Better yet, use a program like FRAPS and just make a video file directly from the game as it is playing. FRAPS, basically, records video and audio of what's going on on the screen. Setting up a camcorder in front of your monitor will do your movie no justice.
