It's a popular arabian folklore and dance and a swedish guy has translated the sound, not the text to swedish! The result can be sung in swedish and an arabian would think we all know the text!

This swede has done this with some other arabian songs with great success!

The swedish text translated to english can be found here:

As an example:

The sentence "Hatten är din, hatten är din" (the hat is yours) could be something like

Haaad a dime, haaad a dime. smile.gif

Bad example, I know, but it gives you the idea how the arabic can be transformed into another language if you listen and have some imagination.

Here is a true story from Sweden when we got a new queen some +200 years ago. She arrived to Sweden for the first time and she was from France and couldn't speak swedish, of course. The people were ordered to the streets to welcome her and they didn't know a single foreign word.

It was famine in the country, it hadn't rained for several months and the harvest was a catastrophy. People were starving. They were now order to shout "We want rain! We want rain!" when the queen arrived.

In swedish it is "Vi vill ha regn!" and the queen was delighted because she heard how the people greeted her with "Vive la reine!"

Has anyone seen one similar to that called 'Lesko'? It's hilarious!

All my love and prayers go out to those in the buildings, the planes, and their families. I wish there was something I could just do. Rest in peace, loved ones, all of our prayers are with you.

Brief was right, the language barrier means a lot.

For example, "det här är förjävligt", means this is f***ed up. biggrin.gif
