tk102 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Has anyone ever heard of this? o_O Not until now.... interesting. http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/explain.html
Jeff Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I heard something about this in one of my CS classes last semester, I'm not sure if this was specifically what the professor was talking about or if it was something similar but I remember hearing how they were working on a better Internet.
Tinny Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Woah nice, you know what this means. More COOP! I also had a professor who was doing research on faster cables, but nothing from the ground up like this.
tyrone333 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Shazamm damn Thats gotta be good but it's probably a joke but if it was real then damn i'm getting it
Tinny Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I doubt it, it was posted today Monday April 7th on the date.

Char Ell Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 From what I understand The Grid will use all fiber-optics and no legacy infrastructure equipment. Seems to me that would require a whole lot of money be invested by current ISP's to upgrade their networks or perhaps build new ones if the enormous bandwidth supported by the Grid is to be made available to the general public. In other words I don't think regular blokes like myself will be able to use this anytime soon.
Kjølen Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I heard this back when it was called the Internet 2.0. Can't wait for the holo-chats. Lol, the Grid. Awww, it doesn't work nearly as well. The Gridwork sounds better.
